I use them all the time. Well, whenever I stockpile a decent number from MacTusk.

How often do you MAKE them?

Seriously. To me and quite a few others, ranged combat is absolutely out of the question currently.

I think that boards instead of twigs would be good for the bow itself, perhaps it can be good for 20 shots. And arrows don't stack without a quiver. Which requires papyrus and rope.

I was thinking about a quiver, but I forgot how it is said in English. XD

Not true. Do you know how hard it is to get blowdarts? I know that almost all of my DS friends never use blowdarts ever. Too much of a hassle.

That's the thing. I'd rather have blowdarts fixed than another ranged weapon added, plus bows would seem out of place in DS.

Name a game that uses blowdarts, now name games that use bows in them. Point is that In DS's strange world of items bows don't feel right just like double chests.

Terraria would be one. I beg to differ. Adding bows to a survival situation seems natural and style-neutral to me. Much like the Spear.

They don't fit still. DS has swords made out of nightmare fuel, Ham shanks, genitillia swords, gem clubs, and other weird weapons.

Blow darts should be fixed first before any other weapons are added, It would feel lazy.

Here's something then, Xjurwi. What does the Ham Bat, Tentacle Spike, and Thulecite Club all have in common? They're all basically melee weapons.

Perhaps something funkier than just a plain longbow,  then? Like....oh, I don't know, a bow that has a slurper's tongue instead of a drawstring.

Frankly, I don't think Klei's ever going to fix the blowdart, because to them, it's fine as is.

See? DS's weapons are weird and not typical of many games, If bows were to be added I would want them to fit in DS's universe.

There's a lot of things Klei hasn't done to the game that has been clamored for:

Buffing Krampus, buffing blowdarts, tallbird life cycles and what not.

Basic or even flaming bows and arrows would be redundant considering blowdarts exist unless a unique effect is added.  Maybe the arrows would be laced with nightmare fuel and cause shot creatures to turn on their own kind.  You could see the arrows stuck in the heads of whatever you shot.  I always wanted something like that.  Could be lots of fun in large groups.

Guys, we already have 4 ranged weapons crossing from early tiers to mid tiers. We don't need an over-saturation of items that do the same thing in roughly the same tier of the game.

Boomerang - Earlier Tier

Sleep/Fire Dart - A Tier above

Blow Dart - A Tier above that.

Yes, the ranged weaponry is not balanced and really (pardon the pun) blows, but to add a weapon that does exactly the same thing (if not less) than weapons that pre-exist and to add them in the same tier is superfluous.

I agree, ranged weaponry needs rebalancing, but you never add superfluous game elements unless the focus of the game is accepted as superfluous. DS is not TF2 and, thus, does not make a killing off adding nonsense content (well........ kinda).

I would accept bows as a late game weapon if anything, but they don't really fit the theme for ranged weaponry right now. Look at the ranged weapons and tell me which one doesn't punish the user partially by accounting some (if not most) of its value to some unusual mechanic. Sleep dart is weak because of unusual mechanic. Fire dart is weak because of unusual mechanic. Boomerang is stronger because it inflicts self-damage. Blow-dart is strongest because it's most difficult to acquire and hard to get in abundance. Magic staffs either freeze, light on fire, etc - their damage is also minimal but compensated with unusual mechanics. You already have blow-dart, so why do we need bow?

Yes, melee weapons have no drawbacks until late game in which they punish the user for using them - which is the inverse logic to range weapons. Why? Because ranged >>>> melee. You can't make ranged cheap else it'll be spammable and will eventually prevail above all else irrespective of the numbers/costs; and you can't make ranged weapons in the later tiers too powerful in the field of what melee weapons do else they'll also prevail above melee weapons.

Ranged weapons need a drawback. Bows have no drawback (again, pun unintended). Crossbows do, and numerous other ranged weapons do (even primitive pistols), but bows just hold no novelty to their drawbacks.

Anyway, with enough blow-darts I can overcome any foe in DS. With a bow, I'll never die to creatures.

not that they're perfectly balanced necessarily, but that's intentional. Having a ranged weapon with no downside makes the game effectively pointless.

also, not that this needs to be said, but this suggestion has now been suggested 1 million times.

It's the exception that proves the rule.

What do you mean by fixing blow darts? Making them more balanced?

I think Blow Darts are fine in comparison to other balance issues.

I think Fire/Sleep Darts could do with a buff - and I think that's the common consensus here (unless they actually think Blow Darts are underpowered--in which I'd like to tempt them to collect 10 Blow Darts and just see how little can face up against you).

Is it that no one captures birds during Winter, or that no one likes to visit swamps? Either way, they are easy to attain and do a whopping 100 damage a hit. This is far from underpowered.

The only issue I find with making Darts is the sheer number of birds one has to slay due to the random chance of Feather drop.
