Adventure Mode

Recommended Posts

So I have been wondering what people stance on adventure mode and how its the only way to unlock Wes/Maxwell. I personally really liked the idea until I realized just how hard adventure mode is. Now I am by no means a very skilled player, but I have survived 500+ days so im not a noob either yet I can't bear wasting so much time on adventure mode.

I would left adventure mode untouched if not for me liking Maxwell because of the fact that his abilities are quite different from the other characters. So in my opinion Adventure mode should stay intact but I feel it unfair to force a player to spend countless hours in order to get one of the more interesting characters. I am contemplating cheating to unlock Wes/Maxwell.

So ummm what your opinion on the subject?

Wes is kind of a bonus character, and him simply being in the character unlock line is quite odd considering he's not really good at anything (aside from making pretty balloons!). Maxwell on the other hand does fit well as the reward for finishing adventure mode. He's also quite a powerful character (especially after he gets his new ability next week) compared to the others.

Change this.

[MISC]

ENABLECONSOLE = true

In game the key to open console is ~ and the (case sensitive) commands for unlocking Wes and Maxwell are:

GetPlayer().profile:UnlockCharacter("wes")

GetPlayer().profile:Save()

and

GetPlayer().profile:UnlockCharacter("waxwell")

GetPlayer().profile:Save()

You have to be in-game to use these commands. You can close console again with Ctrl + L. I highly recommend beating Adventure mode, though. That feeling of accomplishment when you let him off his throne and come back into the world you worked so hard to live in as The Puppet Master is exhilarating.

Whatever, Adventure more rewards you for successfully completing the challenges as well as finding a rare bonus character sometimes. If you do it, the story explains why it is so that way for Maxwell. Wes is for the Hardcore players so enough said.

With Maxwell, it makes sense that you need to grind Adventure Mode to get him. What kills me is Wes, and how you can (with poor luck) play Adventure 50+ times without finding him. I think the chance of finding his prison ought to be increased (maybe it becomes more likely on particular levels?), personally.

Well I completed Adventure mode, I don't know why it was infinitely easier this time around using Wilson. A little disappointed that I had to lose Wilson in exchange for Maxwell on that world. On the subject of Wes it seems Klei is practically yelling at you to not use him. Crappy stats and hard as hell to find.

Just out of curiosity how do people utilize maxwell's sanity apart from Night armor/Nightmare Sword?

No need to wear sanity-regen items, first off. No sanity drain from night, normal monsters, and caves.You use magic items that cost sanity more frequently, recover fast from insanity harvests. A lot of micromanagement is cut, basically.

And of course, he gets his new power on Tuesday, the Codex of Umbra.

The exploit way to win adventure mode without hard core cheating is; when you're about to die, close the program. Don't save and quit, close the program. You'll start off from your last save.

That's how I beat Adventure Mode, it's sort of half cheating.

I think the player is looking for totally-non-cheating methods. Until I have both Maxwell and Wes I feel i should recuse myself from these AM tips. But any suggestions for getting Wes fairly (come on and spawn dag nab it!) would be appreciated by me.

I remember reading somewhere that if you checked your console log, there would be indicators as to whether or not the set piece with Wes in it spawned in your world. If you check that, you can know ahead of time if you're wasting your time looking for him.

I remember that too, something about the amount of Maxwell statues being spawned into a world. If it's two, he's out there. If it's zero, it's not. Can't remember the exact code-speak, wish I'd saved that post somehow.

I really like adventure mode for the extra challenge it poses, but even though I finished Adventure mode about 4 times and got to world 3 about 8 times, I never once found Wes, and it's really starting to bug me. I don't want to use console commands but maybe I'll have to if I ever want to unlock him.
