Opening pictures in new tabs works with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome as far as I've tested. There's a chance somebody's messed around with tab settings in your browser but I can't do anything about that.If you can't make it work you can also right click the picture and copy the Image location. Look for anything in the menu that indicates IMG URL's.
