Your behavior is utterly disgraceful. Chinese buyers make up the largest group purchasing your merchandise. Nobody would buy your merch without the skin CDKeys—everyone buys them only for the skin codes.

The merch costs 218RMB in China, and 95% of buyers are only after the skin, which is easily worth at least 178RMB. People spent 218RMB to support you by buying Wilson and Maxwell, happily redeemed the codes to use the skins, and then you officially sold the same skins in the store for just 18RMB at an absurdly low price.

Are you taking consumers for fools?

Let me be clear: anyone who buys your merch now is a fool. I will never support your merchandise again. You’ve gotten too comfortable in your bubble; you deserve to be criticized.

Like, specifically for the skins?

Yes, over 95% of players in China buy the merchandise only for the skins. You can check the data—sales of merchandise without skins are much lower.

no, this is probably a scalper that resells the price of the skin to a similar price of the merchandise. Now that everyone can get the skin 999.92% Chinese players will buy the skin and Klei will get one quintillion Kleidollars

Klei must have known this full well, yet they still released the Resurrected skins to backstab the players.

Chinese forums are blowing up right now.

Many buyers of the merchandise are saying that anyone who bought the merch is a fool, being drained of money over and over again.

Not even many Chinese game companies would dare pull a stunt like this.

Your behavior is utterly disgraceful, treating players like leeches to be farmed!

I’m just a regular player who bought the merchandise. I don’t profit from this, and I don’t care about the money.

Don’t use so-called scalpers to defend Klei.

Klei has been spoiled rotten by people like you—now they dare to do anything.

This is a matter of basic business ethics!

you're 1000% honorific correct Klei should put a gatcha system with pity pulls that are only achievable after spending x5 the price of the physical merchandise you should never support klei and interact with anything klei related, for your own intelligence

I like Wigfrid. Klei doesn’t care about this character and gave her a lazy, terrible skill tree. I could accept that—I’ve accepted it for nearly two years.

But what I cannot tolerate is Klei treating players who bought the merchandise like fools. This isn’t just my personal opinion. Klei can go check the Don’t Starve Together forum on Baidu Tieba in China and see how disgusting your behavior is!

I wish I could get my hands on some of these skins/figures but they aren't available in America 😕
So in a way I can sort of understand where you are coming from.

Just be courteous about your concerns and complaints.

Well this topic is going to get closed soon.  However I will say that Klei announced a long time ago that they were going to do this.  I have both those skins already and I am not hurt by this at all.  The only thing I would love to see is a full character roster (someday).  Instead of stopping just after the first Wilson figurine or half way through.  Nevertheless haven't been too thrilled with Youtooz communication when it came to shipping/delay announcement.

It would’ve been fine if Kurei just sold the merch skin in the shop at full price or 20% off. That way, it wouldn’t upset either the players who bought the merch or those who didn’t. But instead, they let scalpers jack up the price, then sold it cheap in the shop—now they’ve pissed off both sides.

Just set up an in-game store channel in Don't Starve Together for selling it at the original price. This solution is totally feasible and will satisfy both groups of players.

You're right, I'm wrong.I can't be bothered to argue with you. I rarely visit this forum; I'm just here to express my opinion. I don't care what you guys say.

This forum is way too dead. The activity level is less than one-third of the Don't Starve Together section on Baidu Tieba. You only see white knights singing praises; you can't even criticize anything. Ridiculous.

Since you bring it up... I wholeheartedly agree with the annoyance and frustration over this exclusive "Limited Edition" merchandise, since it gets branded as it won't be available in the future and yet exclusive skins have reappeared in the game at some point. Great for the people who missed out on them if they didn't happen to be around at the time? Sure. Stupid and annoying for the people who bought them back when they were branded as a one-time opportunity? Very, very much so.

In the same vein, who thought it would be a good idea to sell an exclusive "Limited Edition" skin that you can only buy together with a block of cast iron (literally) with the shipping costs that it entails for customers outside of North America? This is as bizarre as it is absurd to me, especially considering how global shipping and custom fees are looking currently. As an European customer who has been playing Don't Starve Together and collecting skins from the very beginning (when cosmetic items made their debut) of the game I think this is an extremely poor decision by Klei.

I mean, if they had sold the skin as separate digital item at a premium price it would have looked greedy, fine, but if this ludicrous shipping cost is the alternative I will pick the former option any day of the week. Seriously. I really wanted to buy the gingerbread mold (having collected basically every Don't Starve Together merchandise skin to this day) but I simply can't rationally afford or bother with such a nonsense deal. Now Klei won't get any money from me for this skin and I will in turn not have this Crockpot cosmetic. It is loss for both parties.

I guess the lesson here is to buy merch when you want the merch. The skin is just a neat thing on the side. At the end of the day, you have a piece of merchandise that will never be made again (according to the YouTooz website), so celebrate that.

Unfortunately that is the case. Everyone gets everything for cheap or free at one point.

But it benefits me, the board game would cost me around 6 times the price for my region just for the skins, so if they eventually release the characters skins for redeeming or at a lower price later I would genuinely be happy.

At the other hand, I would probably feel scammed if I paid more just for the skin thinking it would be a limited time only skin. So I would like Klei to address this at some point, so we can actually know what is limited and what's not.

that's not true, they also cry and throw floor-tantrums

To be completely frank, I didn't care much for the Puft plushie nor Youtooz figurines, though the former definately has its charm, and I would really adore and love to use said cast iron mold for baking and decoration... but look at the shipping cost. :/ It simply cannot be justified. Selling merchandise in such a way is a poor move and huge slap in the face for plenty of Klei's customers.

That combo you showed would cost alone 91% of my country's minimum wage.

Just for me to never use the item and buy it only for the skin, and then Klei decides to re-release just the skin at 1/15th of the combo price. This is a scam in my point of view.

And it's obvious because they know that most people only buy the physical items for the digital goods.

what so they are not able to criticize the company they paid real money for a trickly adversized good? And if the frustration shows, it's better to understand the situation and be alert by the level of player commitment instead of censuring them out by pointing out the way the translation problem in language communication instead of focusing on the real issue. It seems to me you're missing the point here.

Do.. do people seriously buy things like the cast iron cookie set just for the skin???? I bought it so I could make gingerpig cookies with my Mom and maybe my friends someday because I thought it would be cute (couldn’t do so this Christmas because of a Nasty Flu case everyone in my family got : ( ). I haven’t even redeemed the skin that came with that yet.

I’m also pretty confident resurrected skins scale based on regional prices. In the US, it costs me $10 to buy a resurrected skin, which is otherwise ~1/4th the price of a standard plush (the cast iron set was more expensive in that regard at ~$65, but also, it’s cast iron…). I imagine they do this because unlike physical merch where you’re effectively going to sell at a net loss, digital is much easier to scale based on regional pricing and the like (Shipping costs is admittedly another story that I wish was nicer to countries outside the North America, since I do agree it gets a little ridiculous if you try to buy from any other continent).

I own all of the merch that has come with codes. I have used said codes and enjoyed the skins the past few years. I got my "exclusive" time to be able to use them, and now it's time for others to be able to enjoy it. It's simple. Re-release skins to give more people access and let them support Klei. Win-win.

My suggestion is don't buy toys that you can't afford.
