At least me, I would be "pleased" if there were a way to lower the rabbit naughtiness. I've been waiting for 9 months now.

You know what? We’re not making demands of Klei out of meanness. We just remember when Klei used to maintain excellent quality control, so that’s why we’re concerned about the recent updates, for this great game. If the fandom starts casting out dissenters simply for not aligning with the developers’ intentions, Don’t Starve Together may eventually explode and fall apart like the Space Shuttle Challenger.

I'm glad we're getting a way of disabling the obelisk gates in the Atrium. Was probably my biggest remaining gripe with the AFW situation.

We are? Is that the upgraded enlightenment crown?

If the devs mention upcoming plans, tentative or not, the players get disappointed that they didn't mention this or that or meet a deadline that wasn't there to begin with. If the devs don't mention any plans, the players whine about not getting enough transparency or the game updates stagnating and "being tired of waiting" or some utter garbage nonsense.

If a well-designed boss is added that is simply fun to fight in its own right without having any super remarkable loot the crowd will yell "wow, such a worthless boss".

If a well-designed boss is added that has remarkable loot people will point out within one second that "the boss is too tedious to fight and that content / loot should not be locked behind a tricky boss LOOL".

If they add X people will whine why they didn't add YZ in the same go without having a clue about the big picture or know how much effort went into correcting a mechanic.

Yeah, try to please these people. You simply cannot win.

I sincerely look forward to this update and don't see anything negative at all. It looks great. Minor things will be added or ironed out later. To me it looks polished. Thank you Klei and keep up what you are doing! Also, remember to get adequate rest, like others have pointed out. xd

They talked about a lot of things about this update, like after the boss there would be changes in the world, they didn't even deliver half of that and rushed to release only the boss, which until yesterday had very significant problems, and there didn't seem to be any pressure to release it as soon as possible, no one even considered it being released this soon because the update was clearly still halfway through. If the update itself wasn't concluded, how can this be the conclusion? Seriously, the most you can think of those who criticize this is that "they're crybabies who didn't get exactly what they wanted"? Like, we're not even getting what we didn't want if that's the case. And it sucks to keep on with this bigger picture thing when we're in the rift conclusion update, like, what exactly was the bigger picture of the rifts? They started out half finished and they're going to end up that way too if that's the "conclusion".

This is not about pleasing demographics

This feels very rushed, please consider postponing the update. Not only it's not properly tested, it has been in the beta for what, just two or three weeks? Not even a month like usual.

I'm extremely frustrated to see the destruction of Pearl's island to be set in stone so quickly and never be addressed by the devs here on the forums. I don't understand why the new boss fight has absolutely happen on her island, destroying a unique landmark of the world in the process. The relocation feature is quite nice but it doesn't entirely solve the issue as it doesn't allow to recreate the island in its original state after the new boss fight is done.

Klei, I'm begging you, please reconsider this decision while there's still time. It doesn't have to be like that. There's plenty of room in the ocean to fit a new island.

Seconding this. The re-homing kit helps a lot, but the structures are so much closer, and the music of the shell-plugged fissures will be gone too. Pearl's island is unique, and re-locating her anywhere else won't have the same charm.

I mean, they're still gonna work on it? It's just what they have now is leaving the beta branch early for Klei fest. The main "conclusion" part of the update is pretty much done (although I agree the Scion could use more work).

IDK why they feel pressured to release the update by an arbitrary date. We're not getting the unfinished content until it's done, regardless of when the boss fight is delivered. They can't say they've met their update target by splitting one update into two.

They also can't use the "beta" excuse for any unfinished content once they push it out. Last I checked, they hadn't tweaked the new teleport distance for controller. Is that going to console versions without testing or without changes? We're asked to destroy one of the few islands to turn the crown into a skull helmet. (IDK if repairing the drones was even intended for this update, but it doesn't seem worth it as is.)

Clearly they want to release skins, but they can just release those early for Klei Fest. (I'm sure they'll be criticized, but they're going to get flak for this update either way.) Slowing down updates to release them more polished, and then releasing them unfinished is like shooting yourself in both feet.

WHAT

Another update like Depths of Duplicity cutted it short abruptly? I only know it now for timezones and work reasons.

…Huh, didn’t expect it to conclude so quickly. I assume the patch is being pushed in particular for the controller changes, since the PC part of the playerbase admittedly doesn’t have many controller users and those are the real targets to changes like this.

Just to be sure, we are going to be getting a few updates after the beta drops, yes? I know a lot of people were looking forward to things like the hail and the like. I don’t mind an early release for the former controller changes, as those are important, but I hope it doesn’t compromise the latter.

I was a little surprised that the beta ended. It seemed like it would last another week or two.

Thank you for the heads up, this is exactly what I did wanna hear. I do still feel a bit bad it came out early because of Klei fest, but I hope the team can add the content afterwards. I appreciate the transparancy!

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, the boss isn't finished? The post-world events haven't been tested yet at all, and Moonstorms are still non-functional in the beta.

I'm ultra confused? Where's the Drying Rack stuff and the Lunar Hail?

I normally try to stay positive here on the forums(lord knows y'all get so much flack for even the most minor of perceived sleights) but it's so disappointing to see yet another update chopped up and released in waves. I'd rather get a small update of nothing but bug fixes than have a bigger yet incomplete update. I thought the point of less frequent updates was supposed to mean we'd get more refined, fully realized updates(not bigger; just completely finished) instead of them being piecemealed out in half-functional chunks =(

I can't help but wonder what the heck is happening behind the scenes.

I'm surprised your going through with that already, given that everyone but like 3 people despise the "Hostile Takeover" part of the hostile takeover update. Or that they've been complaining about rifts doing this exact sort of thing for the last 2 years straight.

I'm in awe. Shock I say. I was in for geometric, gesture wheel (not announced yet) and most importantly drowning feedback! I don't want all of this time waiting patiently to be wasted :c

The reason is probably because the update's animated short was finished before the beta even went live.

The animated short of the last batch of skill trees was Winter's Feast themed (for an update that released in February) and had 1/3rd of it dedicated to the very first iteration of the Walter skill tree from the beginning of the beta. I don't think this has ever been a concern.

Can we not complain about things that haven't even happened yet

Nah. This ain't the first time we've seen this happen. The exact same thing happened back with the Return of them Arc.

Klei starts a new update chain, It goes on for a bit, they announce that the chain is ending, and everyone collectively goes "wait that's it?". Give it two or three years, and maybe we'll get an update to the quest line that litterally everyone hates like we got with the powder monkeys. And then a couple years after that we get an update that actually improves it a bit.

Hilariously, Return of them also ended with us fighting the Celestial Champion.

Klei Fest may officially Begin Tommorow, but Crypt of the Necrodancer is already on sale for 2.99$ on Xbox Live.

I bought it already, it’s hard though.. like even on the easiest difficulty this game seems to be relentless at throwing enemy mobs toward you. :wilson_cry:

Yeah. But also I worded it funny, so what I meant in case it wasn't clear. Is that enlightenment (which the super crown grants) makes obelisks stay receded. Which is admittedly, a minor difference from wearing the bone helm to toggle the gates. But it's a small convenience to not have to juggle either backpack/nightmare amulet or various light sources. Particularly when your atrium is awful with like 20 obelisk gates in the way to AFW.

Yeah I had that issue, I like rhythm games but I just couldn't get it. People who it gels with seem to really like it though, I might just need to practice more tbh

Gonna miss that Wagstaff fellow. At least he's still playable in Don't Starve 🥺

I really like him, especially the playable version of him, but to be honest I'm relieved that the next updates won't involve his piles of scrap and tools scattered across the floor anymore lol

Ah I did not know that. That is very nice especially considering my atrium has loads of obelisks

Forgive me for being stupid

But I can't find anything on the internet about klei fest 2025 except this post, suggesting that it's today?

I even tried asking Grok and Gemini who both have zero information as well.

I'm a huge fan of klei games, but it's probably not a good social media approach to have your annual event, and the day of it there being no information on the internet

Why doesn't the Bee Queen hat work as the Spider hat? Why can't you control the bees, and why do killer bees keep attacking you? Also, why don't beehives naturally regenerate health? It's so absurd to destroy a beehive with a punch, just because you punched it a few more times throughout an entire year to draw out killer bees and so it no longer has any health.

I agree it's sad they don't regenerate health or respawn like catcoon dens, but maybe this tip will help you. You can apply healing salve to any mob or hostile spawner in the game to heal it. It works on marotter dens, bee hives, slurtle mounds etc. I care about preserving unique objects and structures in my world, so I use this trick if I accidentally damage any of these.

Klei Fest can't be moved. We have some extra things we needed to do for the update that moved things around a bit content-wise (server work and controller work). We're probably looking at some additional stuff coming after Klei Fest.

Re: server work, are there any patch notes available about this? I'd love to know. Unless it's planned for a later patch or (hot) fix.

How do you repair these drones? Does anyone know?

Welp that's the thing...you can't use them for some reason you can only repair Saw Terramites

Edit: You can repair with these new repair kit that will drop after scion will destroy few terramites i think but the issue is that you can only obtain this once since (right now) we can only fight warbot for one time
