I just talked about this in the beta post, like… are they really not going to deliver even what they said about the current update??? I can understand now why they didn’t make a roadmap — they simply couldn’t commit to a single line from that post? This update, without the promised post-victory events, feels really small to me. It’s like if the Great Depth Worm update was just the worm — except the worm actually interacts more with my game than a post-endgame boss that apparently leads to nothing?
The only thing coming out of this beta is the boss, which, judging by people’s reactions, is half-baked too sooo???????????

What I think they're going to do is, release the update in as finished as a state as they can get it, and then just, keep updating it until they've fully finished it, as if it was still in beta. It's a bit sad but ultimately I still think we're getting what they planned on. They're not just gonna wash their hands of this update as soon as Thursday comes by.

Yes, probably, but those would be different releases. Isn't that the point of having more time between each update so that at least the update would be complete (and preferably bigger)? Why announce this update as being the big conclusion to post-endgame rifts if they couldn't even finish the part they set out to do, in the current update. The boss seems incomplete, the native mods are incomplete, and these, despite being different, are just a remake of something that already exists. And whats beyond the boss simply doesn't exist yet. How could that be a conclusion? It seems pretty stupid, and like, no one was expecting or wanting the update to come out during Klei Fest. They just did it out of nowhere for no reason?

Thanks for all your work, Klei! I’m really looking forward to all the new content. I’ve been enjoying rifts (the Lunar side in particular). I’m excited to be able to move Pearl too, and I’m glad the fight is still on her island. It feels like the first real consequences we’ve had in a while.

The update does seem a bit rushed and incomplete, but I’m glad you’ll keep working on it after it releases. I’m really hoping you’ll do something about the Enlightenment filter though. I have chronic migraines and it’s just… really awful. And hopefully all the bugs get patched before Thursday…

I’d love to see some of the wishlist items from this beta get added in, too. Hopefully you can revisit that later.

This is just wrong.

You lot still have 2 more weeks of June to work on something that DOESN'T spit in players' faces.

This shoddily made update is absolutely terrible, straight up. I'd rather if you just cancel this year's Klei Fest update and continue working on this until September.

I mean, they're still gonna work on it? It's just what they have now is leaving the beta branch early for Klei fest. The main "conclusion" part of the update is pretty much done (although I agree the Scion could use more work).

Even the finale feels unfinished, even though they said that the sequence is done, scion just grabs wagstaff out of thin air, like at least make him spawn nearby and start talking about the "project's results" to then get grabbed and thanos snapped away

Also, if the lunar seed truly has no other usage it's just a crazy disappointment, almost every boss (not you, toadstool) has a reason to repeat it over and over again but this? As a finale of a lunar side? How about we just take our time and not make it another iridescent gem that we will have to wait years for an actual way to use it.

It's just wild to me how rushed this update feels and for no reason whatsoever, the klei fest nonsense could just get a simple QoL update with the geometric placement, some skins and other improvements and nobody would even bat an eye. Huh, I wonder in what state we are going to get the repairable beyblades and the electric changes if they were not even brought to beta

They are giving him dialogue

conclusion to the Lunar questline

Good to have a confirmation that apparently "finishing a questline" and "making the content added as part of the questline good and polished" are two different things to dst devs

Is this gonna be another "update get delayed for x amount months due to complaints" situation with the last skill tree update?

If the devs mention upcoming plans, tentative or not, the players get disappointed that they didn't mention this or that or meet a deadline that wasn't there to begin with. If the devs don't mention any plans, the players whine about not getting enough transparency or the game updates stagnating and "being tired of waiting" or some utter garbage nonsense.

If a well-designed boss is added that is simply fun to fight in its own right without having any super remarkable loot the crowd will yell "wow, such a worthless boss".

If a well-designed boss is added that has remarkable loot people will point out within one second that "the boss is too tedious to fight and that content / loot should not be locked behind a tricky boss LOOL".

If they add X people will whine why they didn't add YZ in the same go without having a clue about the big picture or know how much effort went into correcting a mechanic.

Yeah, try to please these people. You simply cannot win.

I sincerely look forward to this update and don't see anything negative at all. It looks great. Minor things will be added or ironed out later. To me it looks polished. Thank you Klei and keep up what you are doing! Also, remember to get adequate rest, like others have pointed out. xd

That's optimistic. What I think will happen is, we'll get 2/3 weeks post-launch where Klei will try to make changes and additions, they'll mess it up and make the fight unfun, then they'll get annoyed that players are still unsatisfied still... They'll announce the patch is finished, despite several things not working or being broken and then post from Joe about how they're reevaluating their approach to updates and we'll hear about all of the exciting changes in their new roadmap.... which will be delayed, and then scraped.

I'm not even irritated by it all anymore, we've done this 4/5 times now?

I think this is a case of Klei being arrogant yet again. Remember how they said they're confident they wouldn't be missing out any update schedules? Look what we have right now.

I can see the frustration, and it's fair! But I think this is a little bit too harsh. I don't think the Devs are arrogant or ok with this. I wholeheartedly belive a lot of them probably went happy with this, as no devs really wanna make something not only the commiunity is unhappy with, but also something ign they couldn't get to finish and make good

I got to speak to some people who worked on a rushed out game release which was launched way too early and it really wasn't pleasant for them, and I can't imagine it's much different here. It probably hurts them infinitely more than us, sure we get let down and have an underwhelming update for a while, but the devs also will and have spend hours on it right? And then after their work has to launch without being finished THEY have to deal with being personally berated by some members of the commiunity. Being transparent is necessary obviously, and acknowledging your mistakes is also necessary, but Klei is... Really transparent to be honest, they're SO much more transparent then almost all the game studios out there

I'm happy that instead of some roadmap and then getting treated to nothing but silence for months we get betas, we get the info that they will come back to this, we get the info for why it had to be pushed out early, we get the info that it was even pushed out early, we get to actually talk to the developers on here directly. That is so unbelievably great and I think people are starting to take it for granted. Making games is hard, and promises are also hard to deliver on, but atleast they can acknowledge to us that some of those just weren't delivered on! And that's ok. And I'm happy that even though it may look laze, I can atleast have the peace of mind knowing that they're most likely not under crunch and can still have healthy working conditions

Bro. Add any new boss to the DS. And everyone will be only too happy with the first content update in 7 years.

Sorry, dude, didn't realise it was forbidden.

My point was we've been in this issue before, had the same way play out 4/5 times - each time there has been people like you going 'But we don't knowwwwwww'. Learn from history and stop being ignorant.

I'll leave it up to the devs to decide whether to rush the update for Klei Fest, but I hope they will fix the remaining issues after releasing the update rather than leaving them unfixed. I can wait a while to protect the existing Pearl Island base.

I am super excited to see whats coming. Maybe we will get some news about Don't Starve: The board game during Klei Fest? It's been quite some time since it was teased.

What exactly am I learning? I think klei already knows releasing an unfinished update is bad. Even if they didn't, this is not constructive criticism by any means.

I don't want to learn from previous updates just to complain before anything has happened. I do think rushing the update for klei fest is a bad move, but I can only hope that they will continue improving the update and will complain if they fail to do so
