New lamp is gorgeous! Will probably be one of those events that I turn on for every world. Absolutely fantastic work.

If the beta is going on for much longer I'm hoping that these bug fixes will get added. Would love to get that giant worm sketch in my current beta world!

Fixing the herd problem was critical however I'm not sure I agree with automatically killing off zombies after 5 days. It ruins the potential for wide-spread infection that needs culling which to me seems like the whole point of that shadow thrall.

Despawning was an absolutely necessary change; the spawning is tuned up very high and you would be constantly fighting them just to clear them from cave bases, not to mention the Wrathful Bunny King spawns from killing the bunnyman masques. Friendly reminder that the brightshades were probably the biggest nuisance in the history of DST for over a year before they introduced embalming spritz to keep them clear of decorations.

Yeah as much as I liked their concept, they very quickly became cumbersome in practice, especially long term. Needing to clear out masques when you use a bridge and dealing with things like the rabbit king would quickly become very cumbersome. It turned ~40 second strolls through 2 ruins bridges into ~7-8 minute slogs when you get 3 waves in a row and then get a bonus wrathful king…

Sidenote, but a way for their masques to be broken without needing a furnace would also be nice, I’ve got quite a few piled up in the caves and I imagine that number is only going to get higher.

Ok, maybe it was mentioned and I'm just dyslexic or something but there WILL be a Beta update today right?

"The hold on the Wendy, Wortox, and Walter skill update has created a scenario in which we have to juggle some updates a bit to prevent further disruption. As discussed previously, we wanted to better address the skill trees but we also have to make sure we're delivering on the other updates that we were already working on. Most of Wendy's changes are in the beta update today, leaving the Woby changes to Walters Skill trees to come a short while after. So it's going to be a bit longer before the whole update is released fully. We want to ensure that the result of the extra time spent on this update is that last year had one less update and not that this year (or both) being short an update."

Beta should update today with YOTDW, Wendy's (mostly) final changes, and probably the Walter camper skills.

Masked bunnyman contributing to naughtiness should be fixed then, I'm surprised they missed that

and yes Masques are meant to be the shadow counterpart of brightshades, that explains the invasiveness and nuisance. Looks working as intended for the most part.

If it was the intent for masques to never despawn then I'd appreciate a way to keep them from spawning in certain places, similar to what we eventually received with the brightshades. Since they patched this out I take it to mean they were always meant to despawn after the rift closes but maybe they'll introduce something else that sticks around afterwards; I just hope they learned from the brightshades how to provide tools to combat these nuisances.

never once i associate "Depth worm" in surface lmao. i look around all sunken forest for ever and never found em!
thanks for info!

Yeah, finding them works like mechanic from year of the Varg. You need to place monster meat in that event structure and just go after dirt piles then you will find them instead koalefant

I'm usually not negative here... But come on klei the great depth worm is right there and ready to dress up for the event why did it had to be regular depth worm... Look at it poor giant worm that wants to eat us is crying now are you happy ?

The game has multiple difficulty settings and game modes, I hereby declare we should be begging Klei not for nerfs nor buffs, or ahem “Feedback” (which is usually a bunch of unjustified nerfs or buffs) but to rather….

Think differently in this new year. VERY differently. We need to actually utilize those various difficulty settings and game modes (aka weaker, lower damage dealing & less destructive version of the worm on “Relaxed difficulty” and a harder base destroying menace on a higher difficulty/preset.

There's no reason to stop feedback or begging on Nerf or Baff, and rather I'm sure Klei would want that. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't be official forum.

And I won't be arguing about Big Worm Boi here.

Buckle up, Buckaroos. Get ready for Great Depth Worm and feedbacks.

To be fair, already "Just don't use it" card does exist.

I'm happy it's finally been fixed, and the new warning quake is really neat as it drops rocks which you can use as bait for GDW

Tip: GDW can't eat backpacks so you can safely keep your valuables in there

There's a good reason there hasn't been any new full fledged character since Wanda.

it's a complete nightmare to keep them updated with each content release, not to mention reworks and skill trees.

Unless I'm very wrong, DST will not be adding any more new characters since theres no more niche left.

You say this, but I don't see the fabled "sea character". And don't tell me you consider Woodie the water character when he can only "exist" ON the water.

I understand all the arguments, but I still selfishly want the characters that are already made to be ported with some tweaks or none at all. Hell, I'd even pay for them as in paid DLC style.

Don't mind giving money to Klei for don't starve. It's been a while and the game has given me years of entertainment.

DEM CHARACTERS, KLEI I BEG THEE.
