  1. 1. Do you play DST with others or alone?

    • Almost always alone
    • Mostly alone
    • 50/50
    • Mostly with others
    • Almost always with others
  2. 2. Why mostly alone?

    • The game lags too much
    • My playstyle doesn't fit others
    • I suck at cooperation
    • Everyone else sucks at cooperation
    • I don't have any friends (to play with ofc)
    • They drag me down/I'm too good at the game and leave them behind
    • I mostly play with others
  3. 3. Why mostly with others?

    • The game is called Don't Starve TOGETHER thou absolute imbecile
    • Monke together strong
    • It's more fun with friends
    • The bosses are far too tanky to beat them alone
    • I feel lonely playing alone
    • Perks of many characters
    • I play mostly alone
  4. 4. How cool is being able to solve a rubik's cube?

I don't often experience the T of DST outside of Klei servers because I have a very hard time finding people to play consistently with. None of my actual friends play DST, and the people I've tried to add to play it with don't often stick around for more than a couple sessions.

After playing by myself for so long and then trying pubs, it just feels like there's not enough things to do when playing in a group. Things that take me a year by myself can be done in the first autumn if there are enough people that know what they're doing.

I have a few small reasons to mostly play alone but the biggest one is how insanely long, time consuming this game is. And on top of that it still feels like everyone should be present at every session because skipping playing with friends one time can feel like you're so far behind.

Honestly, to me it just feels like the standard gameplay of Don't Starve doesn't work well in multiplayer. Logging in pubs and messing around can be fun sometimes but due to their nature you only tend to experience small portion of the game and then reset completely next time you join or if it's a long term server things to do run out very quickly (also like, idk about others but I never feel like "I'd sure like to join this day 164 world")

To be honest DS never felt like a multiplayer game, it makes no sense at all judging by it's core gameplay and now it's even worse since skilltrees make anything a one man army. Bosses simply don't hold up, it's like playing modern Monster Hunter games on multiplayer. In solo everthing die in 1 minute with the right build but in multiplay the hp scale makes no diference, i much prefered older titles cuz monsters could be a painfull but fun 20 minutes hunt even with decent gear and 4 players, we aways shared a good laught of stupid deaths or simply one mistake that could cost us the hunt, try some clunky builds and so on.. People don't seem to realize that simplicity is a important formula too, much options can take out the dificulty of something that was fun completely, Monster Hunter imo is the proof of what shouldn't be done to a game and DST seems to be going in the same way taking this away with skilltrees and if this wasn't wrongh enought now we got skills to be used exclusively in multiplayer. I get it that people want diversity on their gameplay, but i doubt that diversity will remain there after some hours playing the same character judging by how little you can swap skills or try anything new at all. Time lost on this could be much better expent in making ocean feel alive, adding new content to the caves or simply adjusting food values and fixing things like spiders. If mutiplayer is going to be the focus, some serious changes gotta be made to it, shields to bosses or just damage reduction overall, hp increase on grumble bees for bee queen and so on..

my reasons for playing are not actually listed and there is not an option for 50/50 in the together and alone sublists x__x i play alone because i want to make art pieces, i play together because i want to show people all the cool weird little things about the game that make it silly/cool so i can watch them get excited about playing

DST is a Weird game: Weird as in each character has their own unique goals and things they’ll need to be doing: For Wendy that involves the Solo Quest of finding lost stuff for Pipspooks, For Wurt that involves a trip out to the ocean to get MermKingdom related Junk, for Wanda that involves prioritizing Walrus Tusk by any means necessary.

As a result: While the game is titled “Together” your actually playing it Alone Together.

And Klei for whatever Reason, doesn’t want to add new fun TOGETHER Mechanics into the game..

Such as: The fun fantasy combo of being able to Yeet Wigfrid through the air towards an Enemy as Mighty Wolfgang.

For comparison sake: You can Yeet your teammates through the air in Fortnites paid DLC mode, and idk it’s just the more you can do “Together” the more special all of that feels.

DST is more similar to The Survivalists, or Minecraft- Your Playing Together but most the time your apart doing your own thing unless it’s a raid boss you need extra people for or something...

I suppose the celestial portal which lets you ripoff other characters abilities (the ones you can use anyway..) further makes it feel less like a “Together” game and more like an Alone game.

A Maxwell player is obviously going to switch to Wickerbottom and Craft all her books before switching back.

I mean when he can use her entire skill set plus his own.. why wouldn’t he? It just makes Cooperation feel a little less important, and a little less special is all I’m saying.

I've loved playing multiplayer, Hell, Out of my 3.7k hours, I'd wager 3.5k of them were spent on multiplayer, and yet, I feel like I just can't play multiplayer anymore, and it's not as if I got bored of the game-play loop, or had difficulty finding servers to play on, but the lag has been unbearable, maybe i slugged through it before, but after playing a single player world for 100 days and coming back to multiplayer, i just have NOT been able to play multiplayer at all, feels like I can't kite anything right, or play at my best, not including the lag spikes, this is prob an issue with my internet as well.

nah, multiplayer really puts a giant delay to anything and everything you do, even if sometimes it doesn't look noticeable.

Seriously, this. When I played on a single player world for more than 10 days, I realized just how big the difference was. Now playing multiplayer feels so sluggish and unresponsive.

I reckon that I probably have a 70/30 split on multiplayer/single player time on the game. I enjoy playing multiplayer more than single player, with my preferred way of playing multiplayer is with a friend or two.

The lag takes a bit of time to get used to, but as long as it is just latency issues, you can adjust your timing of your actions for the most part to compensate.

There was a bit of time that I was playing the game multiplayer through LAN and there are hardly any latency issues playing the game that way if you are connected through an ethernet connection.
