Community Guideline Enforcement.

Recommended Posts

As you all are surely aware, the forums have been very... lively since the beta began.

Rather than shutting down or hiding this bad behavior, we have allowed most conversations to take place with only limited intervention in order to allow new posters to provide their thoughts even when clearly against forum guidelines in an effort to avoid a perception of staff hiding or otherwise limiting criticism.

While it does mean a more hostile environment here, I feel that it is more important for players to be able to trust that they are not seeing only a limited view of the criticisms or opinions posted to the forum and make their own judgements on the content of these posts as well as the responses to them.

I apologize for the environment that the relaxed moderation creates. However, I hope that this illustrates to all players that discussing these issues in a polite and respectful way will result in a more productive conversation.

With that being said. We are once again actively enforcing our community guidelines and will be warning more people who fail to follow our moderation policies.

This means. We expect polite and on-topic discussion without personal attacks on other people.

Thank you for your patience.

Well at least this means there're people who are still caring about the forum. Hope they'd also take certain ideas into considering.

Mine for example

You shouldn't have done that, You should have been firm in removing anything that crossed the line, and making their criticism stayed within the line, because insults and abuse that cross the line make everyone blinded by anger.

However, I am aware that I have no right to say this to anyone because I am a hypocritical toxically clown, so I take warning to my heart.

Same here, I posted a post with a couple of changes for the game and it'd be nice to see at least a couple of them being added to the game

Thank you for the statement, hopefully it will cause people to slow down on the more insulting part of their arguments to prefer a more conventional approach

As usual you're amazing at listening to players, I've never seen any other company do better than this

thankyou for telling us your reasons and thankyou for letting us know that things are going to go back to standard now. i can understand the staff's reasons for the flexing of the rules but it is also nice to have a baseline of stability as well

Damn, even an admin have to speak up to calm down the situation, but i guess it was the most appropriate thing to do

This isn’t anything new, they did this when they made their big announcement with the Tencent deal, and also when they reworked Wolfgang by significantly Nerfing him (I personally felt said nerfs were justifiable.. & now what was once a boring character to me is now way more fun.. but that didn’t stop the raging and insults thrown at Klei)

Mr JoeW is a pretty cool dude, I mean just check out that profile picture, whenever it pops up you just know either something really cool was just announced, or he had to step in and warn folks to stay on topic.

”Wide Spread Chaos” isn’t anything new for these forums, but this post will (hopefully) get everything back to normal around here, at least till the next big controversial thing happens anyway :p

I admit I got salty a couple times the past few days, specially towards Wendy posters flooding the forum pages, which was unfair, I understand that at the end of the day they care for her skill tree as much as I care for Walter's, and that the devs still read all the feedback for him. Ngl im probably spending too much time on the forum lately, but I want to help my boy Walter become STRONK

Im sorry this post was necessary, and I want to thank Klei for being incredibly receptive to feedback despite this. The improvements to many aspects of all the trees have been substantial, amd for that I can only send gratitude.

Honestly it's nice to see Klei being strategic with their moderation based off previous experience. (Edit: granted, the issue then was far more bilious than what we have now but I believe being heavyhanded with bans would triggered people to cry foul about being censored)

Even so, I still think that posts that cross the line should be deleted.

I don't know what happened then about your post, but in the current beta version, if posts that crossed the line, especially "Comments that incite conflict with specific groups," had been handled from the start, the finally flood of Cats vs Dogs would not have occurred.

And I still have enough faith in humanity to think that if it had been announced that "insults and abuse would be deleted", those expressing their opinions would have followed the guidelines in order to get their opinions accepted in peace.
