On Mains! (GetNerfedOn don't kill me, I wanted to refresh the poll)

I was curious to see who people both main and dislike here on the forum! I saw that GetNerfedOn, the defacto deity of polls, had made one all the way back in 2019, since plenty has changed since then, I thought we'd do a refresh!

If you'd like me to take this poll down, or remove mention of you (this is to GetNerfedOn), let me know! wasnt the dislike question multiple choice? Cuz i selected way more than wilson but it doesnt show up. and it says wilson has 7 votes but its only showing me and dr safety lmao. 
 

last question couldve also used a “theyre too strong” option imo

I ended up changing it to single choice so the context questions would be more useful... Poor Wilson lmfao 
And I'm unsure if people can change answers, but I added in the character being too strong! Good to make additions early in the poll, not late.

I don't like Wortox because I don't like demons (unless I'm killing them like in DOOM), so I'm never gonna play him. I also kind of dislike that the healing character is locked behind that aesthetic, so I double-hate him. 

I like Warly for his versatility and how his downside encourages you to learn more crock pot recipes.

otherwise wortox, i like just being able to go to the other side of the map if i so please, the best way to base for him is at a river, so you can get free fish from the fish net trap thingy, and store them in the bin, so you have a soul box if you ever need to

For my Choice I main Wilson, as much as I wished they explored more of his Science Side of his Character in his gameplay, I always loved his personality and enjoyed how simple he is to play when I just want to "play" the game with no gimics, or challenges, It always felt like I was rewarded for my in-game knowledge more than just having advantageous tricks up my sleeve.

Dislikes; it personally has to be Wolfgang I've played the least, I have nothing against WolfGang he's a great wholesome character that fits alot with the main cast but I've never enjoyed how meta his presence was in Dont starve/pre-refresh (thanks alot Edgy Rick) 

It also gets to the point where sometimes his damage can feel like a modded characters at time, where he does alot of damage to the point It just doesn't feel enjoyable/rewarding. maybe I'll give him another chance one day but other than that, least played character for me.

Wormwood main. Why? Because his unique downside fundamentally changes how you approach Don't Starve. Food Healing is no longer an option. I love that so much.

I will never play Wolfgang because I hate him talking in third person. Everyone else, they just feel samey. With the exception of Warly and Wanda. I do enjoy Winona though but turns out I just like her Teleporting Parasol contraption. That's it really.

well, in the beginning i mained wes because i was very sick and had frequent auditory sensitivity & scrambling so his being quiet gave me the most relief(after my surgery most of that stopped being an issue) but when i moved from GOG to steam in 2020 on the day walter dropped(and joined the klei forums!) so many people would dunk on him for any reason at all even for reasons that didnt exist so i kept to him and started encouraging others to try him out because the character is wholesome and kind and even though awful stuff keeps happening to him for no reason other than he is unlucky he perseveres and does his best by others. how could i say no to that?

tldr? at first i needed him(it got me off mod characters that were silent), then i wanted to give him love that noone else seemed to have then i just grew to legitimately love the lil' guy

 

as for the other direction.... it is wendy. anyone who has spent a notable amount of time time in the art parts of ds/t fandom will know why i avoid art of her at all costs. the fans really are the worst part of every fandom and this one is no exception.

Good LORD it's a Maxwell sweep! Gotta say, I was really expecting it to be a lot of Wendys... I guess I don't really know where I got the idea they were so prolific? Maybe they all hang out in a different forum or in game... Or maybe she's just not as popular of a character as I thought. Maybe I was wrong about not wanting to play her!

While there are a few characters I will never use, I find Wilson the most dull, his perks don’t align with anything that interests me.

if you did this on steam i am sure you'd get different answers. before wanda came out someone checked and wendy was either the most or second-most picked player(wigfrid took the other spot)

I play /a/ Maxwell(-derivation) and uhm....the only valid reason I can add here is because he plays kind of (very) different then official Maxwell so I can only add the reasons that are not gameplay / official lore related:

Other = His voice is hurting my ears and I tend to make characters say their examination quotes a LOT.

Character main polls were ones i really did but i found that before, when character refreshes were a dime a dozen, recency bias skewed results towards the the most recently refreshed character was in play.

Since its been a while since the last character skill tree I'm interested to see how things go.

Yeah Wolfgang & Wilson aren't surprising. I've been trying to grind insight playing solo, and while i've stalled at 10 insight or so for characters I don't like, the only reason I have more than one insight for those two is bc messing around with lights off mode is fun. They just... don't have any interesting interacations with the world.

Unsure what the limit is only the image has the 700somethingX125somethign pixel limit
