Megabasers, how do u guys do your chest zone now?

Recommended Posts

Im thinking of building my chest zone now and wanna see how everyone does it. In my old world, I used to have 3 massive chest zones with 100+ scale chests - 1 dedicated to everyday essentials like grass, twigs, rock, 1 for mob loots like silk, pig skins and 1 for everything else. Now, with the elasticspacer, u can probably condense everything into 4-5 scale chests so I'm curious to see how are u guys doing your chest zone now.

We no longer do "chest zone".
Now we do chest right off the farm.

Chest full of grass/twigs/rocks/flints in grass/twigs/stonefruit farm.
Chest full of gems in varg farm.

2 chest in main base.

It took too long to deliver stuff to main base chest area compare to just mega farm - that why chest at farm are much more comfy to use. Especially with maxwell + wicker combo that can fill grass/twigs/rocks chest within 2~3 days farm.

My chest zones are definitely more condensed, for the most part, though I do also have additional chests specialized in common crafts. For example, I can have a chest for bug nets and sewing kits, which contains silk, rope, logs, and hounds teeth. Another chest can be weather pains, morning stars, and auto-mat-o-chanics, with gears, scrap, goat horns, goose feathers.

My latest design has a void chest in the center, a "job board" next to it, which identifies what resources I have high/med/low supply of, and a spot to stash shadow chester. This is nice for playing multiplayer, as one person can fill up the void chest, and another can just dump materials right away into designated spots from the void chest, or into nearby temporary chests.

Though I'd like to try a Winona-centric build next time, with a telepad in the center that you can dump resources onto and winbots that auto-sort everything for you.

I play on console so it's a bit difficult to make really nice or organized chest zones. I kinda just have unmarked chests for: boss items, living logs, grass, twigs, gems, logs, etc. That was before I got the elastispacer, where I now put all my common items like grass, twigs, logs, nightmare fuel, etc, in a special chest.Ā

I'm not going to bring an example of a megabase, as you asked, but simply the opposite: how I managed to drastically reduce the chest zone in a minimalist way.
Yes, everything I needed to survive and maintain the game's progression fit into 10 chests.

Basically, next to the alchemy machine: A main chest with boss items and two smaller chests on the side, containing main resources and some secondary resources; On the other side, magic items; The other chests, just add-ons with rift items andĀ other types of resources.

I try to separe items based on what I use most. For example, I have a dragonfly chest with grass, twigs, logs, rocks, gold, red blue and purple gems, nightmare fuel, gears and one other item. With this I can craft the majority of things I use on a daily basis, and I like to put an alchemy engine and a shadow manipulator right beside it just in case I still need to learn how to craft something. On other chests I have loot from enemies that I have a farm such as pig skin, volt goat horns, silk, bee wax etc. I also have a chest for boss loot and a chest with pure horror, pure brilliance, dark tatters, brightshade husk, scrap, moonrock and glass next to a brightsmithy and it's counterpart that I always forget the name lol. That way I don't have to run around much looking for specific ingredients. I can't take a screenshot rn but I hope this helpsĀ :wilson_love:

I have 4 of these. Each statue signifying certain things that are associated with each statue. Bearger has what you'd scramble to gather each autumn, and by extension, the gear which he's good at harvesting.

-Grass
-twigs
-rope
-wood
-Boards
-bearger pelt
-etc

Antlion houses minerals and metals

Moose/goose has feathers and volt goat horns, as well as doodads

deerclops has furs, eyeballs and silk, etc

Ā

There are others that arent displayed such as werepig which contains pig skins and other filth a pig may eat like rot and rotten fish.

Also fuelweaver for magical items.

Ā

In total so far, I have 16 tall scaled chests, each being represented by a boss and an associated craft.Ā

There's probably room for more, but it's very space efficient for me and the statues are a good way to differentiate what goes in what. You really need to come up with personal mnemonicĀ  systems, and hope that people translate what your systems are.Ā

Ā

The systemĀ  I have makes me wish for both more bosses and more carvings for mundane mobs such as pigmen and treeguards. Wher eis our spiderqueen statue?

image.png.16c67472c893eb1c366d11bce90d7689.pngmy entire chest zone which includes gem grass twig and wood farm within reach of wobots.. where he is rightnow can cover my random harvesting twig and grass with scythe and pick any gem that exploded from geodeĀ
if i farm wood/scale i just need to move him a bit ..Ā
chest that hide behind those gem tree were unstackable items, and most of sunken chest loot + sea related item was in my main boat ..Ā

I always did both things :/

a main area where everything is store and chests in the farms or in the set pieces for the crafting stations
