A Brief Intro To Cooking

First off, cooking is done with the crock pot. The crock pot must be unlocked through research and the proper materials.

There are two item categories when it comes to cooking in Don't Starve. Fillers and Ingredients.

Fillers

(they occupy a slot but don't add anything to the mixture)

  • Pine cones
  • Grass
  • Flowers
  • Sticks (if used with meat, you get kebabs, otherwise: filler)

Ingredients

(they make up the food and decide it's effect)

  • Meat
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Most edible items

The way a player combines ingredients and fillers decides what the outcome will be. There is variance in every recipe, based on how many fillers you use. The more fillers used, the less overall hunger the meal will satiate, even though the product will be the same.

For example: A Froggle Bunwich can be made with 1 frog leg and 3 fillers and it gives 51 hunger points. But if it is cooked with 3 frog legs and one filler, it will give 59 hunger points.

This variance principle remains the same in all cooked meals.

I actually wonder, since we now can roast seeds as already mentioned, technically, this should be "new recipe" number 4, shouldn't it?

so we have:

Fish Sticks

Stuffed Eggplant

Turkey Dinner

Roasted Seeds

or does cooking on the fire pit not count as "new recipe"?

- - - Updated - - -

GOT IT!!

Turkey Dinner:

2 raw Drumstick+1 Cooked Meat+1 raw Carrot

Cooking time about... 6/16.. maybe

Hunger filled 130+.

Edit: Tested on Wolfgang

does it have to be cooked meat, or does raw meat work aswell?

you cant even put the rosted seed in the crock pot. So I say no on that one to :)

They probably put it in cos u can cook all other food over fire, so why not seeds to?

you can't put them in? ok, well, guess thats indeed a now then...

so you can roast flowers on the fire now too?

Yeah it worked as well, just tested it. (Hunger filled about 125)

I think the reason I go with cooked meat because at first I got meaty stew from it. Now I think about it, it's because I use fried drumstick instead raw.

EDIT: Yep, tested, fried chicken doesn't work.
