I'm not asking klei to add all 16k mods to the base game

You're asking Klei to add a mod to the game (which actively goes against the game's design), for no other reason than "I want it". If everything that any random person wanted with no justification were added they'd add all the mods. Who's to say they should only add this one random pointless workshop mod instead of a different one? Console players can't use any of them, after all.

thats why healthbar mods exist

Thats not very optional for console. And how coincidental that everyone who disagrees says "ThEre ARe M0dZ" going by that logic klei doesn't have to add content cause there are mods that do smh. Just say i don't think it fits the game.

Health bars have no place in Don't Starve Together. It's not that kind of game. Any of that sort of indicators would make the game look extremely ugly and totally negate the reward of players who are paying attention in combat.

From an aesthetic perspective i agree. But... if there's an option you can turn it off.  There's nothing fun about counting your hits, that's just my opinion tho if you like counting during intense battles cool i guess. Also how do you determine what kind of game this is? cause before the scrap book was added i didn't know it was that kind of game either.

I think - the other way around.  PC doesn't have to worry about this much b/c we have mods and a LOT more control over our world with console commands.  I think Console should have a Creative mode which allows players to enter an interface to produce items, turn on god mode or freecrafting, and expose some values like food and health values in real time.  This gives console players the room to actually set up and practice things the way we do on PC which imo is only fair.  I think health exposing is less important the more familiar you are with a boss, but its perfectly acceptable to want to see this as you're learning.

Also they really need to revisit the controller design, like from ground up.  It doesn't work to just treat controllers like key bindings a keyboard has.  It needs a smarter approach to really integrate the controller into the game.

Consoles need a major QOL upgrade.

Ye, the scrapbook is already pushing it (for us purists :v). So far the game has been consistent in its design to hide values and leave it to the player to learn by intuition how sturdy things are. For most part it works pretty well. The places where numerical values show up are through tools, like the Cookbook or the Gardeneer Hat. It kind of makes more sense from the point of immersion, I would say. Using visual cues is very much preferable over health bars, like hurt mob animations or character dialogue. The latest possessed bosses, Nightmare Werepig and reworked Ancient Guardian are super nice in this regard . Too bad older bosses don't give any hints, like the Dragonfly which is a real damage sponge. Still, to me it would be incredibly silly to constantly see exactly how hurt the boss is.

Based: Immersive and stylish visual cues giving you general estimates of the enemy's health, with you needing to either count or get a feel for their exact health.

Cringe: Big bar on screen.

This would also be a much better use of Klei's time. Instead of wasting time copying one of the many ugly mods, them adding some new flair for the existing bosses would be a unique take on it that no mods currently provide. It could even coincide with reworks of some of the older bosses that could use one.

I still think there could be an item that provides this information.

Having a health bar does make fire weapons a lot easier to use so I think that's why Klei hasn't added it.

But if it's an item the cost could justify the advantage.

Console players knew what they were getting into when they bought the console.

I had to log into my account to answer this, because I couldn't believe the amount of negligence you said.

So, you are assuming and speaking for ALL (and I mean all) console players who purchased DST, that they would know that the game would not have as much support as on PC, that they would also know that they would not have specific options for things specifics such as; show life bars, show building grids, remove caves to deal with the miserable input lag that the Solo player has to deal with.

Is that what you're trying to say?

what console games have mod support

Skyrims an obvious one along with fallout 4 (Bethesda) and probably starfield seeing how bland base game is

Maaybe minecraft? If you count texture packs.... i hate the monitization tho. Java pc has way more accesable mods, like way more, for free

Outside that, nada, or at least nothing worth mentioning

The only ones that i recall are

-Most Fallout games.

-3 TES games

And that's all about i can remember. But in reality...

What does this question have to do with anything anyways? I'm not saying whoever choosed to play on consoles should have expected mod support, i'm saying that anyone who did that didn't expected a miserable experience in comparision to PC

Cmon dude, even Don't Starve Vanilla, Shipwrecked and Hamlet are better than DST on consoles.

No one is talking about the console experience, you're being off topic, aggressive, and argumentative for no reason. We're talking about the health bar - an entirely frivolous and ugly feature - and how there's already plenty of mods for it. If you want to be able to mod the game to add every single thing you want no matter how much it goes against what the game is supposed to be, you should've bought a computer.

Ok. I'm done with you. Not wasting time in arguing with bipolar mentality user.

health bar is way too crowded for my liking. also as many said, for example when health bar popped up while venturing to swamp and show where tentacle is kinda cheat-y. or when in ruins its dark around but u can see beak coming to u just because the healthbar walking towards u.

i tend to not joining for server with that mod but i recently found that i can turn them off with in game mod setting so its not bothering me too much.
i will say i will decline if they offer to add it as base game option. but if they truly did it i won't be so mad because i can turn them off on my game setting.

They can implement it so that it only appears when you hit mobs and disappears after a couple of seconds.

bars in mobs make fighting them way easier because you will know which one has less hp so you can reduce their number easily

not a good addition imo

I don't know what you mean by that. Do you mean their base hp or when they are already damaged?

lets say you fight 3 monkeys and you hit one of them until they is 1 hit away, you kite the 3 and when you are about to keep hitting them you chose to hit the one that is 1 hit away of dying making dealing with them easily

They don't have enough hp for that to count, same with most horde mobs (not depth worms tho they are special).

Knowing a mobs health won't make the game insta baby mode. But the more i think about it less the i like the idea. Cause it would look ugly not any other reason i can see.

If you are a new player going into dst completely blind and you wonder into dfly for the first time, a boss health bar would be a really good visual tell to run away as fast as possible lol

Health bars for common mobs would make the screen messy. Imagine webber having 30 spiders with 30 health bar....

I have abit of a mixed opinion about boss hp bars. I think the warbis helm should display health bars or create some other sort of craftable equipment/magic to make hp show up but having health bars come up normally as a hud option is a bad idea.

Let me put it this way… A Shaved Beefalo looks more miserable and sad then a mob you’ve hit 500 times.

So yeah I think DST either needs health bars, or updated mob visuals to show them physically taking damage and dying.

This is like Botox...could be good, but what we really need is Don't Starve Threeiscompany........or something like that. Not endless changes to a classic

We need a new game...

Edit: Nevermind, I actually like this idea. I'm just salty about something else. You mentioned beefalo shaking water off after it rains in another post. Another great idea. I would much rather see these types of things than just a health bar. Kind of like beefalo training, but with a little more feedback. I don't think anyone whose been around for 10 years expects Klei will just smack a health bar on mobs and bosses at this point.

We already have a classic, It's called DS. But yeah Klei has been adding very sus stuff lately. I'm personally fine with skill trees, i like em. But if we get a battlepass im gonna have start having some doubts.
