1 player boats ?

Recommended Posts

The big boat kits in DST are annoying to control, sorry, good way to make a moving base I love it but combat system with this is hell (just look at those two giants in the ocean).

Am I taking inspiration from Shipwrecked ? Yep, because boats in this DLC are a ton of fun, and the combat is clean (and it has just better maneuver with obstacles). Obviously, let's keep the boat kits, but I would like to get those 1 player boat, they are perfect.

Or maybe, an update that allows the player (mid-game) to control the whole boat kit without moving like a jester just to avoid a sea weed.

I don't think this is necessary. What I do suggest you do is try not to rely on masts, and don't use wooden oars. Driftwood & Malbatross Oars are great for control and can reach very high speeds. I tend to use masts alongside oars, being able to speed up really fast and slow down really fast whenever i need to collect something.

Anti shipwrecked bias so clear in this thread.

By the same logic, "Beefalo is just walking 2.0"

I don't think that shipwrecked sailing should stay in shipwrecked, but as a compromise, boats should eventually get a motor. That and smaller sized boats.

Never did like SW sailing, felt more like a reskin of walking with unique attachments than proper sailing.

I'm totally not against a smaller boat, though! I really love the grass raft, it's super nice.

I'd love to have a smaller and faster boat just for travelling between points!

Water in shipwrecked takes up a much larger percentage of the map and is one of the core threats of the DLC, it makes sense for ocean travel to be faster and more streamlined.

Water in DST takes up a much smaller percentage of the map, and isn't really a threat that needs to be engaged with, so it makes sense that sailing takes more prep and time.

What I'm gathering is that sea travel should be slow just for the sake of it.

I disagree with that. Sailing needs revision altogether. What we have isn't nearly as productive nor enjoyable as what the entire ocean deserves.

Shipwrecked should never be dismissed because of the merit of it's own existence.

The sea can have a lot more in between even if a large amount of it is barren.

I think it could be good if they added swimming but had it on some sort of stamina meter so it's more of a supplementary tool to use alongside boats rather than something to replace them. Swimming profficiency could vary by survivor, with Wurt being the obvious top, with Werebeaver being pretty good, weremoose above average, WX and Woodie being unable to swim, etc. RN water is kind of finnicky to deal with, with the polly roger's hat being a somewhat questionable solution to the problem.

Heh, I've suggested exactly that before. Would be nice to have more options out on the water.
Messed with it in mods before, though obviously the balancing was nonexistent different.
