Making a zoo

Recommended Posts

Hi

i'm trying to build a zoo on my game.
is there any way to carry undergroud mobs to the surface ? I heard of a tip for slurpers, but what about snurtles or crabes ?

Do Bunny men can destroy walls?
what about pingules ?

Thank you!

Bunny Men do not destroy walls, you should be safe. Pengulls are tricky since they will only be alive for Winter, and then they disappear.

Snurtles are impossible to transplant out of caves, rock lobsters can follow you I believe if you give them a rock. But they'll probably run away once your friendship with them runs out.

Maybe you can have part of your zoo underground? That's pretty typical in real-life zoos to have in-door exhibits.

Nah they got rid of that when Dst was made. Probably something to do with them multiplying infinitly in singleplayer

Pengulls destroy walls sadly.

i really hope that gets removed, makes cero sense

you are forced to dont get close to the edge of the map just in case these bastards spawn and start destroying everything with their peak

edit. oh, no... another suggestion to remove the uNcOMpRoSInG components of the game..

I agree it should be removed, they destroy my base!

You can create a rabbit hutch to spawn bunnymen on the surface, carry a slurper on your head through a sinkhole, and catch bulbous lightbugs with a net. Nothing else can be brought to the surface with legitimate means any more.

Edit: Unless you count the reanimated skeleton as an underground mob. You can make him, but he hates living so you'd have to keep reanimating him.

Yes, note that you need to keep the deer next to structures otherwise they despawn, except for deers from Klaus, those never despawn.

moosegoose kids

They despawn when summer comes, you cannot keep them

You can also transform a dragonfruit into a saladmander during the hallowed nights event. It is also possible for wormwood, but these are followers and i am not sure how they behave when fenced.

You can trap Bearger inside a cage of dreadstone pillars. Wobsters and Moonglass Wobsters can also survive on land and will not despawn. For deer you have a choice between Klaus's deer, which won't despawn but also won't ever grow antlers, or the wild ones, which will despawn if they are not near a structure/wall. You can also grab the little glowing crabs from moon quay.

While a tallbird lives, burn its nest and run around it until it finishes burning. Then lead it to a pen that's at least 6x6 walls large with a floor of rocky/no turf and freeze the bird. It will eventually make a new nest, which it will respawn from.

They removed the ability to do this :steamsad:

If you want your Zoo Tycoon to get the Most Exotic Animal award you can trap Deerclops with statues, and he won't despawn as long as a player permanently stays nearby without ever leaving.

This bug is fixed in current beta

It's not a bug, so it doesn't make sense to get fixed.

Judging from the beta deerclops' code, it is intended that deerclops leave when it's not winter. However previous code doesn't guarantee that.

How does he even disappear while you can see him?

She despawns if it's not winter or (she's not in combat and destroyed 6 structures)

The Klaus's deers won't attack with fire/ice spells ?

What about the powder monkeys ?

Thanks for your answers, everybody !

Previous code has him despawn when he's satiated or it's not Winter, and no one is looking at him. Because it would be weird to just abruptly disappear while someone is staring at him, that makes no sense. So how does he despawn while someone is staring at him in the beta, since it's apparently been changed? He has no wings like moose does so it's not like he can just fly away.

When she's unloaded she will despawn if said conditions are met.

If you are a tryhard gamer, make a pen with clockworks, you will get style points for that

if only you could summon clockworks on full moon with statues :c

So nothing actually changed

In current build you can stop her from despawning by having her loaded when winter ends, in current beta this bug is fixed.

I love the idea! You should definitely get some saladmanders and carrats from the Lunar Island! And if you change to Webber, you could easily make a pen with 8 different kinds of spiders. Most creatures will destory walls, but not statues, you just have to make and carry lots of statues and place them close to each other. Maybe you could turn on some events, like Year of the Carrat, Year of the Beefalo and Year of the Catcoon. That way you can get a whole cute rat pen, a beefalo fashion show and little kittens AND decorate your zoo with lanterns.
