Less cluttered skins

Recommended Posts

While gameplay issues are extremely difficult to solve in most cases, I have a lesser complaint about modern don't starve.

The skins are getting really visually cluttered and personally way too fancy.

Again, this is an entirely subject opinion but here's an example of what I'm talking about

Basic razor, nice artwork.

Here's a later skin from the gorge, is a different spin but still plainly recognisable as a razorĀ

And then the most recent razor skin. Significantly more visual clutter, but fair enough it is still recognisable, but this is one of the tamer examples, I'm not even going to talk about the cawnival skins

There... really isn't that much of an increase in visual clutter? It's slightly more extravagant, but it's still a fairly simple design that is not particularly overwhelming.

Maybe you should talk about the cawnival skins and elaborate on why they might be bad, because trying to use tamer examples to illustrate your point is... kind of not really a good choice for convincing people that there's a problem.

When I first saw this without context I thought it was a pistol or a blunderbass.

I do agree many of the new (and not so new...) skins are out of place and are too fancy, making game less serious than it already is.

Most skins read fine enough. The ones that cause the most confusion are ones that thematically overlap with each other. Like star caller staff vs fire staff, moon caller staff vs ice staff, and spear vs battle spear.

Also various terraria or pantomimed skins, but... I'd say those are working as intended, lol

personally i wish we got survivor skins round 2. I absolutlely am in love with the camping crockpot skin and wish more skins were in line with it. Great skin for early on when youre still living in the woods and it fits the theme more than a stainless silver pot or a witches cauldron

HARD agree. I've always enjoyed switching to the survivor skins mid-game, feels like you're really getting into the thick of it and your clothes are starting to wear down.

You will understand me like no one else, the skins of the survivors, whether they are objects or pesonages, have their own atmosphere, but these are not just skins, namely how the object and pesonages would look from the point of view of how they would look like surviving in a real wilderness, without game conventions, so to speak. Skins for the Survivors are There are very few of them, I suggest adding at least 2 more skins to this collection: a rotten Backpack and a battered catapult, it seems to me they are ideal to replenish the collection of survivors.

+ I would like to say something else, Wurt and Wormwood should get a "An appearance consistent with the fact that they have survived for a long time" in their skins like other characters from the collection of survivors and not a change in race as it happened with Wortox. I really want to see how Wurt and wormwood will change under the weight of survival and not just become completely different characters (they always become someone else in their skins, then a hairy monster, then a mushroom, and so on) I really want them to remain who they are, merms and Jungle Vine who have survived for a long time

here is an example of a survivor Wurt skin that my friend drew a long time ago @Russian_PhilinDsH-x5Bw8zo.jpg.96fe86935c926084e4db7e56ad64a16c.jpg

it would be cool if they added more skins from the Survivor Collection for things like a tent, a refrigerator, a fire pit, chests and other basic things
