Genuine question. Bc me personally I don't like feeding equivalent to 4 Wilson's.

you can bond a beefalo with bell and then put it at salt lick to freeze domestication whenever ur too far from base or in no mood to eyeball it very often, you can feed it 3 steamed twigs daily to tame it passively and then have a generous amount of time to ride it once you get a saddle

the payout is worth it in the long run, that speed increase is tremendously helpful, and he absorbs the damage you'd otherwise take in combat (just remember not to tank waaay too much), give it a try

4 Wilson's.

Damage wise, Beefalo deal 34 damage, wilson punch deal 10 damage. 1 beefalo = 3.4 wilsons in term of damage.
Tank wise, Beefalo 1000 hp, wilson 150 hp. that 6.67 wilsons in term of hp.
Multiply both of that, beefalo combat power is 22.67 wilsons.

Economic wise, feeding beefalo is 5.67 times more profit than feeding 4 wilsons.

You mean I've been feeding ALL of my Wilsons for nothing!? So much for my First Fall 4-Wilson Ruins Rush...

Dunno. To me it feels like you are playing a Beefalo and not your chosen character. Can't stand them personally because of that reason. I use them to transport heavy stuff but kill them off when I am done with em.

That's the fun part with characters like Maxwell and Wendy where you can access all of their perks while riding a beefalo
