Fuelweaver is the Ancient King/Staffwielder from the murals. The general lore is that he overused the shadow magic that ultimately doomed his civilization. During his battle he tries to turn the gateway off... by using its shadow magic. His defeat ultimately allows Charlie to repair the gateway. Although I think, the ancients built the archives later on after/during the collapse but I don't remember where I got this info from. Maybe just speculation that I heard somewhere. I mean we do know the queen tried to stop it with some sort of "new power" (which may have come from the moon). This could be the "history is repeating". A new civil war between the survivors. Wicker's quote for the statues in the archives is that its from before the ancients discovered nightmare fuel. But yes, the Torch the queen was using seems to be of lunar origin.
