Pudgy beefalos could get a small buff

Recommended Posts

Pudgy was more of a brag that you could get for investing all of your food into your cow.

However now that it's easier to obtain thanks to the new beefalo feed I think there isn't much of a reason for it to be objectively worse than the other beefalos.

I mean, worst speed and damage out of all the other tendencies makes it really hard to justify the sanity Regen of 6.25 (less of a tam). The only good use I can see from a pudgy beefalo is maybe for being at base or afk.

I suggest a small QOL buff (only one off this list). Something small, NOT to make it more worth it (I'm sure it's already worth it for some people), but to make it a little more balanced when compared to the other beefalo. They are:

Increase it's damage to that of rider (+5). This just mean it takes one less hit for mobs with 150 HP. Not sure why it took a bigger hit than rider or why it got two penalties when rider only got one penalty for it's buff to speed. Not to mention a two ton cow should hit harder than a 1 ton cow. If rider became weaker because it became more slender then why did pudgy become even weaker than that? From a balance or realistic approach I think it's damage should at least be the same.

Or

Increase it's health Regen slightly. Pudgy is bound to get hit more due to it's big boned size slowing it down. Yet, this should also mean it should be able to take more of a beating. It has many pockets of fat from which to draw strength from, that could only rivaling that of the power of friendship.

Or

Let it eat food of the floor when riding over it. Let it's full gluttonous power take hold. It doesn't care if it's been on the floor, five second rule, plus no one said how slowly or quickly you can count those five seconds. This makes it a beefalo that can tank and saves panflute uses when needing to heal your beefalo normally during a hard fight.

Look, I know pudgy probably works the hardest out of all the other beefalos because it's not easy to be that cute. With great cuteness comes even greater responsibility. However as this is the QOL patch I don't see why some underutilized things can get a bit of loving.

Thanks for reading my long and boring post. :)

I've always thought the pudgy beefalo should deserve its own role, for all the other beefalo tendencies have their own niches in damage, speed and a balance of the two. If you were to boost its damage and health regen, it still really wouldn't be worthwhile for the other tendencies will do their job much better than the pudgy beefalo could.

I've always thought the pudgy beefalo could play the role of the "pack mule", being the slowest and weakest it could gain the benefit of carrying our loot around. Since the pudgy beefalo has "extra thick" fur we could possibly store extra items in it like we would Woby. I could definitely see myself taming a pudgy for this benefit, for being able to carry even 2-3 more items would be so helpful in the long run.

That's a beautiful idea. Gives more incentive to wear weather clothing which is always a plus in my book.

Built on that, the extra slots should be always available while riding, which is different from Woby or Chester.

This, and add him his own special saddle for even more slots, which was previously requested. But it's better if it will be a small buff, and the main buff will come from the beefalo itself, as with ornery beefalo and a war saddle (main damage is 50, additional +16). For example, pudgy beefalo can have 4-6 slots, and a saddle can add 2 more. It seems to me that this much space will be tempting enough for anyone to tame pudgy, and the saddle will be a nice bonus for other beefalos too, but it will not be as profitable for them.

The only problem I see with the proposal to make these slots always visible and accessible (while you're on the beefalo, of course) is their placement in the UI. There's not much space left on the screen, especially if you're carrying something like Krampus' backpack. The only thing that comes to my mind personally is the space in the lower left corner, between the inventory line and the crafting menu line. But I imagine it's only there because I have a big enough screen for that. For small screens, I don't even know. But even if this idea fails, the old way still works. Just maybe make it so that you can "open" the storage while riding too, for example by pointing at the character or having a special button next to the inventory for this. The storage itself can still open in the center of the screen, next to the character, if there is no place for it somewhere else.

Or yeno....play walter.... lol, beefalos already step on wobys toes alot, they need to buff woby first before giving beefalos inventory slots.

If Pudgy beefalos were given inventory spaces, it wouldn't really make players favor them over Woby. Woby is unkillable meaning you wouldn't have to spend extra time keeping her out of danger, and she is very easy to feed in order to gain extra speed. Whereas Pudgy beefalo are the most expensive tendency requiring a surplus of food and time dedication, and have the worst stats along with beefalo being able to die relatively easily if reckless.

I do agree Walter does need some touch-ups, but I don't believe this will make others abandon Walter (the slingshot is his main perk anyway) but have more options which is always a benefit.

Beefalos are superior to woby.

Walter mains know how good beefalo rushing is

Also, I feel pudgy boofs should just be tanky (have armor reduction)

What about allowing Walter to get a specialiced woby? a speed wooby, a damage woby or a backpack woby, depending on the sadle. Though, befalos been superior to woby, just means that walter can have a beefalo+ a woby, which is better, buffing beefalos would make walter better

i don't know what I would do to make pudgy beefalo more comparable to the other types of tame beefalo. Taking less damage/eating food off the floor sounds pretty neat, but I don't know how i feel about having pudgy beefalo be more geared for combat. I don't think thats the point. Maybe i'm mentally ready to be able to milk pudgy beefalo, or something to that extent.
