I hope to get Bottomless Pit.

I bought the game in 2017 when it came to Xbox live for the first time ever.. so I obviously didn’t even get a CHANCE to get this skin.

Because in the end rarity doesn't matter, it is only shown in your inventory of skins and skin looks the same in the game. It could be fine if klei changed the colors and made it look noticeably different, that's probably the only solution that could satisfy everyone.

It would be completely unfair to early access players and it is quite a good point of comparison to signify early access, that's literally the only reward that people got to show for being the first DST players.

Even thought to me it isn't the best fire pit skin, i understand that to someone it can be but why should that be something that decides if skin should be obtainable again?

That's how rarity is usually attached to many things. The less copies there are, the more valuable it is.

 

DST is probably one of the most fair games in this matter, you can get almost every skin and even twitch drops that passed,but it is quite annoying to see that players just want to get bottomless fire pit too, since they managed to get everything thus far.

Don't think that i disagree with most skins being obtainable again, All skins in DST except bottomless fire pit should be abailable even the ones made in the future.

Unless like i said just change colors of the bottomless fire pit and make it a separate skin.

I don't see anything wrong with giving it the Torch treatment. Timeless for OGs, Loyal for the reward version, either counts for completion.

And give me a non-timeless version of the icon for winning the Gorge tournament! Sure, it looks exactly the same and no one can tell the difference unless they for some reason care so much to go to my Steam profile and ask me to make my inventory public so they can see what quality the icon is in, but technically speaking it's a different quality so nobody being able to tell who actually won the Gorge tournament has no problems with it!

as someone who owns the bottomless firepit i think it should absolutely be on klei rewards, it is really gamer and weird to be attached to having a skin other people dont in a game that otherwise is so fair about these sorts of things

Being able to view the rarity of an item or a structure through something like a unique action with the clean sweeper or something would honestly be a fine solution i think. So if people would feel it is very unfair to just allow others to also have the skin, even at a different rarity, because you can't view it ingame, then making it viewable in some way would probably help aleviate that somewhat.

I still feel like you're missing most of the point in what is being said, buuuut if for instance you could hover over the icon to see its rarity when examining somebody, would you mind or care at all? Yes, it'd look the same in its design, but it wouldn't be the same right? And you'd be able to directly view that ingame, so under those circumstances that should technically work right?

I only have one and ONLY ONE question..

If I bought the game back when it released in September 12 2017 on Xbox One would I be considered part of the group of players who played in the Beta & therefore should be eligible for this skin? 

If I’m not eligible then that just makes me feel even more sorry for those Nintendo switch players who will get the game THIS YEAR.

My point? Limited time exclusive skins are just plain awful, Nintendo players don’t have a choice on WHEN they jump into the game and therefore they shouldn’t be out right DENIED a skin they missed because the game wasn’t even released on their platform yet.

This doesn’t just go for the Bottomless Firepit Skin, it goes for the Ancient/Thelucite Walls, WintersFeast/Hallowed Nights, Twitch skins etc..

Not sure about the bottomless fire pit, but Ancient Thule/Stone walls should definitely be available through other means, they’re so nice for building stuff with. I’d die if I had to go back to a time before them.

Time limited skins are not fun, and Klei clearly agrees, with introducing things like the klei point store and rereleasing old/rare skins with a different rarity. The thing is that the Bottomless Pit skin shouldn't be thought of as merely a time limited skin, because that is not what it is. It was a reward for being a beta tester. I keep seeing people compare it to event skin login bonuses, when that is not what it was.

We can thank Klei for treating time limited skins like they do, because a lot of devs wouldn't bring things like Twitch drops back around for people who missed it. It is important to note that the Bottomless Firepit isn't even in the same category as these skins.

Edit: for the record, I'm arguing in favor of keeping it unobtainable since it shouldn't qualify as just another time limited event skin

...I honestly didn't realize that anyone looked at other people's icons in the first place.

But uh, yea, sounds good. If they're going that far and know that that one icon has meaning as opposed to all the others in the game, they'll notice the border too, I guess.

I’m just waiting for the day when Klei rewards has things worth spending my points on, some 20,000 I’ve got just sitting there collecting dust. I’ve been following the rewards since back when it was first announced in 2019 and am still waiting for skins like the mini monument and pirate birdcage to become available. The stone kiln and torch would be great too. I mean it’s cool that players can get skins that were missed, but for those of us who have been collecting them all since the beginning it would be nice to see the return of these previously unobtainable skins.

I do think that beta access skins should be exclusive. Bottomless pit looks amazing and I don't have it. However, the people who first supported the game and provided feedback should receive exclusive items for their contributions. Without their support and feedback for the game when it first came out, we probably wouldn't have DST as it stands today. 

 

Now when I see a bottomless pit on a public server, I know that they've been here since day 1 and it's cool to talk about. It's a fantastic skin but it's something more than just a skin.

My opinion: if you want a skin just because you can't, search a doctor. There are others options of skin for this item.

Get real. If a game comes out in early access and no one plays it or gives feedback during the EA phase, then the developers stop putting much effort into it. It's as simple as that. The players who took a risk in the EA phase should be rewarded.

I was just talking to a dev about this and they said the wall skins will be on the site soon. As an xbox player, I just wish it were possible for me to get the lava firepit skin...

See I’m on console and the I own all dlc, started with these before I tried DST. These skins are no longer obtainable on our platforms, which is why I’d like for them to get added to the rewards.  

Played the hell out of SW btw. I loved it. Thing is, RoG on console is super bugged and world saves are easily lost, especially when all three dlcs are merged. For this reason alone I find myself not playing single player  all that much anymore 

I should also point out, that as soon as the don’t starve games dropped on console, I picked them up immediately.

You should move to PC, I used to play on console wayyyy back many years ago and playing on PC is at least 3 times better.

The system requirements for the singleplayer game are pretty low (excluding hamlet rainforest and brambles) you could play them on pretty much anything. DST is more demanding but you'd be able to play on the same computer. Maybe you could ask some devs if it would be possible to transfer your skins for DST or something similar. No garentee but Klei would probably do it.

No, I’ll pass. I’ve got too many close friends that are on console, I wouldn’t trade that to play on the pc alone. DST on next gen console runs great anyway, I wouldn’t want to start over. Just adding stuff to Klei rewards would be great, as I’ve got plenty of points saved up. 
As far as skins being transferred, I know that it is not possible for console players. I’ve seen people ask that before, and the response has always been that it isn’t.
