I managed to finally make a shadow manipulator

Recommended Posts

to add to what IanKSB91 said, ice staffs and pan flutes (with the mandrakes you find in one of the forest).

Also you could craft a meat effigie (the beard is obtained by killing rabbits and bunnymens while they look black and also by killing monkeys (which is dangerous if you arent experience)) to have a backup revive. Place it in a safe arean and drop near weapons, light sources, armour, etc so, if you die you can recover from the death quickly and safe

also, if you plant to farm veggies, you could craft a one man band to tend the plants

chilled amulet (the one that uses blue gem) is good for summer. Bring it in your inventory and use it when you over heat until the over heat is over, it last almost an entire summer season if you combine it with isulation cloths like eyebrella. But only wear it for few seconds when you need it, dont wear it constanly since you will only waste it for nothing

I never made one of these things until Klei released a skin for it I cared about (yes skins are that important to me..)

I hate that the 15 spear skins I own only get use early in and fall out of usefulness so fast, I also hate how the axe/Pickaxe skins can not be applied to the golden variant.

I also didn’t really start using Darkswords till the newest Terraria skin- yet somehow I still managed to beat solo DS’s entire campaign mode with basic tools & weapons.

No Life Giving Amulets, No Meat Effigy, Not even Shadow Manipulator levels science!

Maybe I’m better at this game then I gave myself credit for.. I dunno.

One thing I do know though is that Darkswords make killing bosses like Deerclops a lot faster but, with constant sanity drain while holding it: So there’s risk in using them.

Also a Wigfrid with a Bat-Bat is like having a life stealing Vampire on your team.

I was going to make a fire staff, but fire always ends up spreading a bit too far. Long story short I no longer keep the magic items next to the chest with all my gunpowder.

is useful to deal extra damage to bosses but you will need a little of experience or be very carefully to dont kill them while burning or the loot is lost. For example for deerclops since you deal extra damage and can keep you warm while fighting him. 1 single staff can deal up to 3500 damage (80 damage per use if the enemy is a boss) to bosses if you use it everytime the fire ends

and yeah, use it only in areas where you wont lose anything you want xD

i didnt tried but with the sanity song might be healing with no downsides while fighting bosses

Sanity is not that hard to deal with though. I've gotten the tam o shanter a few times and because I know how to create spider wars silk is not a problem. So I usually have enough for top hats and tents.

Also one time I managed to make a meat effigy but then Deerclops decided to step on it.

as weeber you might like to pick cacti too since you can recover the health lost from picking them with glands

Awwwwwww, this is so cute!  >3<

I always have special emotions when i see new players discovering and learning the game! It's so nostalgic. It remembers me when in Don't Starve beta i built my base with all around trees and a lightning burned them, burning therefore my entire base.

Was the lightning rod not in the game yet?

Yesn't. It wasn't at certain patches, it was in certain patches. It was introduced after the update introduced raining and lightning. Still in Beta tho.

The funny thing is I have like 500 hours on two different platforms but I'm still learning new things.

that is the charm of the game. For just 5€ you have content for ages xD

i have 4k hours and i still didnt even try some of the old events so be patience, being noob in the game is a one time thing, enjoy it because some of us would pay for being hit in the head to forget the game xD

It's normal. The real strong players are not who proclaims itself to be """veteran"""" and do "no-hit X, blinded eyes,... ", but those who still wants to learn something new in the game.  :encouragement:

230 of those hours are on switch. Because dst is not out on switch yet I dont have access to some of the content. That being said, I ended up getting into shipwrecked at some point. I once found a volcano staff and caused the volcano to erupt. As I tried to escape a meteor hit my boat and instantly killed me. I think if that was any other game I would have been annoyed, but I couldn't help but laugh at how the world ended.

I have gotten a lot of good stories out of this game, but that one was one  of my favorites.

Dying is part of the learning experience (and can also be very funny)
