Terra vs Swamp - starting cluster comparison

Recommended Posts

If you get too cold on swamp - insulate your start area's borders, build several composts where a wall was shared with ice biome.

You're gonna be short on dirt anyway. Compost is lower labor than the spinner and gets hot.

I am hoping they come up with a way to regenerate a planetoid if you haven't visited it yet - sort of like doing a partial world gen.

Wandering planetoids might be the answer - planetoid wanders in for N cycles, then wonder out for M cycles, then back again but completely 'refreshed' (all dupes and facilities lost or in tatters, potentially with new seed)

This also might be used as a mechanics to permanently switch maps or lead to some 'astrophysics'.

This reminds me of how Rimeworld map works (I never played... Just watched "nomadic" Francis John's series). You build in one tile but when you abandon it everything is lost to oblivion and map is "refreshed"

Rimworld has always been amazing...A classic endless and forever ongoing developed game like Factorio :p

ONi with railways, trade and ( friend or foe ) space visitors, events, endgame threats, space stations and space shuttle - Oioioioioioioioioioi :excitement:

And cannibals, slavery, human skin jackets, human skin pants, human skin hats and grinding son to meat paste to feed captured mother.

Took a turn there...

I was think wandering planetoid myself, but then it occurs to me that if the destinations are sufficiently small and moving slow enough, then they are more like stallar neighbors that will eventually disappear and some cycles later a new target appears on the horizon.

If, for instance, you are a starting a game as a solo, binary or trinary planetary system - ell else are temporary passers-by.

Alternatively you can drop a sort of land claim on and start a colony on an ark-like planetoid of your choosing, and as it leaves the system, it becomes the center of the a new save game ( with all objects in orbit and on planet included, a nomadic, generational save game system ).

Is it weird to say.. ONI is no longer the same for me?.. it's so weird. I wonder if they hadn't made a new game as an expansion, I would still be playing. Anyway hope I can return to ONI in the future when the dust has settled. I want to see the new starting biomes!

Same here. I basically stopped playing on day 1 of the alpha access, due to lack of base game content. First time ever I purchased a dlc for a game and basically then have to stop playing for 1 year to get base game content implemented in to a dlc. Anyways, I`ll just wait now further, taking the time lapse pill.
