Alienm
I recently saw a discussion (which i cant seem to find anymore) where the the question was who should get a rework next. Most people said Wolfgang and WX which seemed a little weird to me as a Webber main, to me it seems like Webber became one of the least, if not the least character in the game(after Wes) due to Wendy's update and Wurt being added to the game. I thought the underpowered characters should be prioritized. What do you think? Well-met
There's one flaw with this thinking. Klei might not see their characters the same as the veterans do. either way, I don't think it really matters as long as they all have one. Mike23Ua
I’m just going to say that Klei designs the game with its future already in their mindset, So, it doesn’t really matter which character gets refreshed next, as long as they’re ALL made more interesting and fun to play as. I can think of a Billion other Ways WES could still be a challenge character, But NOT Be a Burden on the other five people in the server who did NOT pick to play as Wes and do NOT Want to be challenged as if they had picked Wes. I can think of a Billion other Ways WES could still be a challenge character, But NOT Be a Burden on the other five people in the server who did NOT pick to play as Wes and do NOT Want to be challenged as if they had picked Wes. That here is a really big stereotype though... play as Wes and you'll see that he isn't as much of a burden as you make it sound like. If you have a full team of 5 players plus a Wes that team can easily carry that Wes. You can be a burden to a team by playing as any character. Sorry for repeating myself but it truly only comes down to the players knowledge and not to the character. Of course if people keep spreading the word that one character is a burden, the mentality won't ever change. yes they are funny thoughts but actually spreading those words with conviction is kind of bad for the community: -Not all willows are base burners -Not all wilson ask for base -Not all Wolfgangs are sweaties -Not all Wes player are bad -Not all Wx-78 are selfish gear eaters -Not all wigfrids are tanks Edit: Now i know that Wes, as a character, isn't good. He does need more food and he does need more time to fight stuff. You are right to say that he is in a need of a rework and i couldn't agree more. But there to say that he is a burden, i think it's a bit extreme. I'm sorry if i came out as rude, it wasn't the point of what i was trying to vehiculate. For reworks i would think that Webber or Wes should come next. Webber because he is indeed outclass by alot of the other character perks and he doesn't have much going on for him other then spider wars (knowing there's better ways to gather silk and monster meat that advantage is kind of meh now). As for Wes i'll admit that he needs multiplayer perks. He needs some stuff to at least benefit the team a bit if you compare him to other character. But then again if you know how to play the game there's nothing that Wes can't do or achieve. It would just make him more usefull to pick when you play with others. Charlie Dark
When it comes to character refreshes I believe the most under-powered characters should be rework first.. And Oh.. umm Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/117749-should-klei-rework-the-op-characters-first-or-the-underpowered-characters-first/#findComment-1328911 Share on other sites
ArubaroBeefalo
what character is useless? i think every character can move, pick and hit so i dont get it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/117749-should-klei-rework-the-op-characters-first-or-the-underpowered-characters-first/#findComment-1328943 Share on other sites
GenomeSquirrel
I disagree with the useless label, but it would be better for Wes to have something added than someone else have something removed Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/117749-should-klei-rework-the-op-characters-first-or-the-underpowered-characters-first/#findComment-1328952 Share on other sites
Alienm
You're right that came out a bit wrong I edited my post to be more accurate. Zeklo
Without a doubt the under powered. You can play the overpowered and still have a swell time, which is not so much the case with the underpowered lest you're aiming for it to be more difficult. Yuuko
I think its much better that they set an expectation based on other character reworks first, that way they don't have to take as much from the OPs. Also I don't mind if they re-work everyone with little to no downside and then re-work their downsides after people have had time to play with their new upsides. Terra B Welch
Honestly underpowered characters. In fact I hope the next character rework is Webber, cause as it stands now, he feels the most useless, especially since Wendy's rework where abigail is now better then ever at mas killing spiders which to me makes spider wars completely not needed. This should be reserved for a dedicated game mode for people who actually WANT the characters to be more of a Hassle to play. I am one of the most vocal people here on the forums wanting the game to be harder, but at the exact same time I admire Klei’s understanding that not everyone wants to play the game the same way as me and serious downsides can be seen as more annoying then fun & will push those players away from enjoying the game. The Difficulty Of your game should not be bound down by the character you choose to play as. Now DO NOT Mistake that as me saying the game should always be super easy, it shouldn’t... but what it SHOULD have is more accessibility to players of varying skill levels. If my noob friend wants to play as Wes, should he have the worst time of his life when all enemies aggro on him and he’s super weak and dies easily? The answer to that Question is no my friends enjoyment of the game shouldn’t revolved around rather or not he picks Wes. So here’s what I purpose- An easy more forgiving mode where downsides and cons completely seem to disappear, for players who don’t want & will not enjoy the extra challenge. And at the exact same time- An Experienced Mode, Where characters DO Have serious downsides & require more skill to balance and play as. I will use Wendy as the example- Now her lower damage stat is completely irrelevant thanks to the bonuses Abigails flower bestowing gives. Okay LuL’z Noob Git Gud- now host the “Experienced Player” Difficulty- What happens? Abigail now takes a lot longer to reach max potential from 2 days up to 6- And the Petals bestowment Buff does not apply to Wendy. Also you’ll need to craft a new Abigail flower each time you rip apart the one in your possession to recall Abigail. Surely you see where I’m going with this right????? They Reworked these characters to make them more accessible & fun- to go back through and make them ANNOYING with serious Downsides will defeat the entire purpose of reworking them in the first place.
