meepmoop
It farts at >80% but keeping it at that level seems like a waste. Also encourages it to become Peggy. I also do not understand the pattern of it asking for food (when does it decide to run towards you and open its mouth?).
Well-met
Beefs can't take damage from starve, don't worry. Rule of thumb, it's basically impossible to tell the right things to do without a mod that shows the beefalo's values in numerical.
Quyzbuk
If you've got no pressing distractions, feed him every time he opens his mouth. Stop when he doesn't. If you've done this at least once a day, you're fine. If you can't be bothered, put up a salt lick and park him by it until you're ready again. Bijumiro
Following you with an open mouth: Hungry (less than 75) Behaving normal : you gave him enough food If the beefalo farts, stop giving him food (reached 300) Beefalos have a wooping 375 max hunger and they lose 300 each day This guy explains everything you need to know about it: youtube.com/watch?v=OL6Jp6pOL2U

I managed to tame with the UI mod that shows you stats of everything but then turned it off and it became confusing.
Vultureneck
Also you don't need to feed the beefalo while you are riding it, often when I start taming one early I just stick a saddle on one and stay on the thing until it's tamed, only feeding it something like twigs or light bulbs until it lets me back on. Seot
Just feed them scraps and ride them around whenever you go out. If they buck you or you get off feed 2 grass or twigs and in about 25 days you will have a beefalo
themightyone
highly recommend having the brush for this endevor too. 15 days is pretty easy to get him tamed compared to 20.
