Mike23Ua Posted January 2, 2020 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Them being the proper rulers of the Constant before Maxwell or Charlie took over the Throne- I am just going to assume the they went off on a Vacation long enough for Maxwell to take over But in all seriousness I Hope “Them” ends up being a shapeless entity and what’s ACTUALLY been going on the entire time we’ve been playing this game is that Anyone that Sits on the Nightmare Throne ends up being Shadow Cloned. so the final boss battle at the very end of the game will be the cast of survivors vs Shadow Clones of Themselves complete with all the Reworked Abilities Klei has been giving them all. CameoAppearance Posted January 2, 2020 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Canonically, the Shadow Creatures are almost certainly "Them", and presumably there's a lot more to them than a bunch of nosy mooks made of nightmare fuel. Maxwell talks about Them in his monologue at the end of Adventure Mode in singleplayer DS, and things like the constant appearance of eyes in the darkness in the Adventure Mode epilogue map regardless of your sanity, the shadow creatures hidden in source code ASCII art and single frames of video in the William Carter Puzzles, and that part of the Ancient Fuelweaver boss fight where your screen gets swarmed with Shadow Watchers link "Them" pretty strongly to the shadows.
