Wurt is a potential paradox

Recommended Posts

Alright, Let's think of the merm guards like this.

Let's say you're the boss of a Company, and you need, say, a computer Technician. So you send out an advert for said position, and people start applying. you opening the position didn't cause the Technicians to spontainiously generate, it just attracted them because they were waiting to get a job in what they had trained in.

In the same vein, Crowning a Merm King doesn't spontaniously generate Merm Guards. It just gives them a job in the position they've been waiting for. That being protecting the Monarchy.

I feel kinda bad now, those poor guys probably trained their whole lives to gloriously battle for their king and for honor, learned all the books about merm battles history, merm military strategy, and spent years of hard study about the ancient merm martial arts.... then I come in and put them to chop trees, kill birds, and punch eachother.

Since the king was inspired by a fairy tale created by another species, it doesn't make sense.

Also incongruent with how easily replaceable kings are.

It's more likely they trained for a few days, and find this situation weird.

Merm guards are just recruited normal merms, Wurt just recruit doesn't create life.

Paradox solved.

The issue with that is that merm guards have horns, like Wurt, who says she's growing to grow up to be "just like" a merm guard. No merms with horns exist without Wurt existing.

Perhaps not in the Constant, no.

Except the merm kind literally does spontaniously spawn merm guards when attacked.
