Wait, what? I don't think I've ever gotten new acorns from tree harvesting, despite their listed seed chance. Do they drop upon uprooting or something? Do they drop upon uprooting or something? Apparently the pip can create new seeds but it`s kinda bugged and it does only one seed per tree. You need to uproot and replant it to get more. Uprooting the tree gives one seed as usual. Lurve
I like the notion of pips pollinating trees, but that feels too much like a bug for me to use. Soulwind
Seems to be more of a bug that the tree stops giving new seeds after 1 unless you reset it by digging it up. Without new seeds, you'll never get to have a forest. There is in fact an entire animation of a pip crawling all over the tree before it runs off with an acorn. Not typically a bug if you animate it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108940-food-rebalance-summary/page/4/#findComment-1228650 Share on other sites
Lurve
Okay, I just got an acorn and some wild pips via printer, so I gave it a shot. It worked once, to two trees, and again, to four. But then nothing. I've uprooted and replanted the trees several times, but the pips are ignoring them. I thought it was because they weren't hungry, so I tamed them, and they've been eating since but that hasn't had any effect. [ETA] And just then I get one more. Guess I gotta keep replanting until it sticks. goboking
After playing some more in the beta, I'm still convinced that Barbecue and Cooked Fish are a too good in their iteration. Let's compare single-ingredient meals. Fried Mushroom: made from mushrooms; +1 morale Gristle Berry: made from bristle berries; +1 morale Tofu: made from beans; +4 morale Omelette: made from raw eggs; +4 morale Frost Bun: made from sleetwheat; +4 morale Barbecue: made from meat; +8 morale Cooked Fish: made from pacu fliet; +8 morale I'm of the opinion that +8 morale for a meal prepared using a single, easily obtainable ingredient is too much. I would rectify this by changing Cooked Fish to Sushi, requiring Lettuce to make, and reinstating Barbecue's Pincha Peppernut requirement. I find Arideo easier than every other map because of this. It is very easy to drop the temp of an insulated farm by a few degrees. It's a nice addition to help early game in Arboria or any starting forest biome. Before I was struggling with meal wood and now I can skip early farm and rely on Forest Muckrott/Hexalant and can focus more on finding early oxygen supply and water.
