Venting phosphorous into space > wheezeworts

I did a joke build a few months ago to actually leverage all the phosphorite that was clogging my automated storage system. Basically cooling a thermium aquatuner with phosphorite->liquid phosphorus->gaseous phosphorus->space@1025C. Like I said, silly, and surely the rebalanced WW is a much more efficient way to use phosphorite? Well for those who just want a TL;DR, I believe spacing phosphorus gives you 21kDTU/s in cooling, while a wheezewort gives only 12k, which isn't accounting for the DTU loss due to having to cool the stored phosphorite, which will depend on how low of a temperature you want.

The math:

These calculations assume your input phosphorite is at 35C, and ultimately heated up to the max temperature a thermium aquatuner provides.. Phosphorite has a relatively low SHC of 0.15, but it melts into phosphorous at around 245C, and gains a much improved SHC of 0.77. For those true temperature shenanigan fans, you've probably recognized this is a heat additive process, and you can have some fun by cooling newly melted phosphorite in a steam generator. This makes this process even more efficient, but let's stick with the simplest approach here.

Phosphorite consumed: 33.3g/s

Phosphorite deltaT: 210C

Phosphorus deltaT: 775C

Phosphorite phase DTUs: 600 DTU/s

Phosphorus phase DTUs: 19.9k DTU/s

So there you go TL;DR, purple gas is the superior cooling method.

Except that this is omitting the power cost of the infrastructure, as well as the fact that if you can build such a system, you have access to technologies that are outclassing wheezeworts by far. Again, they are not meant to be a solution throughout the game, but in very early designs.

Early, and when you want something quick and dirty.  Since they don't need pipes, wires, or other infrastructure to work.  Just a single farm tile or planter box + dupe labor.

Personally I wouldn't have chosen phosphorus as the medium, but I'm messing around with designs that use both CO2 and Water as a exhaust to carry heat into space. Only geodormant asteroids lack water to such a degree that you might not be able to spend a tenth of your water supply on cooling.

 

CO2 has about four times the SHC of phosphorus, and is available in great quantities if you generate much power. Water has about twenty times more.

Im a huge thumbs up in favor of wheezes going back to what they where but your comparisson doenst make any sense oo. Gj on your setup it may be huge :).

But yes worts are just bad now, i liked them a lot for early and used ice machines for pools that i wanted cold now i just use turbines especially with everything being even hotter in general.
