Huge Wheezewort Change

Recommended Posts

So wild variant only provides 1/4 the cooling. I can actually live with that I mainly use them for battery boxes and plug sockets.

I think the devs are trying to push us to use the ice machine early then move onto the steam turbine. I have seen notes that seeds self plant after sitting on the ground for a while. This looks to be incredibly powerful does anyone know if the wild growth rate has been nerfed?

Phosphorite is usually 40C from the caustic biome. Won't that hot phosphorite leak out and ruin the point of using wheezeworts in the first place?

There's also dreckos in chlorine. Unlimited phosphorite (unless they changed it).

But to cool down the phosphorite, that heat has to go somewhere. That means the wheezewort needs to be fed more phosphorite to cool down the phosphorite it needs, which means you need more worts and...

See where I'm going with this?

It's be more effective to dump heat INTO the phosphorite, so it gets deleted by the wort. All the real cooling would have to happen elsewhere.

Nah. A cool slush is enough to keep a main base cool.

But they make phosphorite in such small quantities that just storing them in your base should cool them.

You need to cool the same amount of phosphorite so no that doesn't change anything. Domesticated wheezeworts will be less effective at cooling in temperatures that are below the temperature of the phosphorite and more effective when above.

But this assumes that Klei reduced cooling power of wild wheezeworts as opposed to increasing the cooling power of domestic.

Yeah I don't know how they changed that, still the temperature of the phosphorite is one of the small things that influence the cooling that can be done with a number of worts.

Anything is possible with the most amazingly powerful geyser in the game. Cool slush is ready to absorb heat, get purified, and absorb heat all over again. What about the majority of maps that don't have win mode?

Sucks to be you, use the other cooling options that are already in the game. /s

Anyways I haven't played this testing branch enough to see what the full impact is.

Sucks to be what? You suggested cool slush in the first place!  Don't tell players to use an RNG solution and then condemn them for not having RNG solutions. It's kind of rude.

Anyway the real issue here is that worts are suffering a bit of a catch-22. They need phosphorite to generate cold, but the phosphorite is hot. Hot things interfere with generating cold.  Are wort farms going to get into trouble by melting themselves?

/s means sarcasm. My real comment came after.

Edit: All Klei has to do is make sure a domesticated wort has more cooling power to neutralize the heat of the phosphorite.

Is it even possible to harvest enough phosphorite for 10 wheezeworts? I have been mostly lucky so far because Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifiers spawned near my geysers but sometimes their spawning point was way off. Even then I needed additional cooling with 4 wheezeworts which would require an absurd amount of dreckos to sustain IMHO.

TBH I'm actually not really forward to playing the update anymore because of that change.
