What tasks do you actually need Dupes to do in the late game?

@JohnFrancis because I already know how to set up a base and thrive in a normal game. So setting objectives that make things a little harder are fun. I've already managed several increased difficulty settings in the game, so this is a nice variety.

If you stock pile thousands of reed fiber and don't dig up the wild stuff you can turn huge amounts into insulation and then grind it into sand, well in theory I'v never tried your brand of insanity ;). You could go the shine bug route but dear lord the time taken would be horrifying.

I already did this. I have 600 tones and didn't finish to dig the entire map. If i convert it all to insulation, i will obtain 857,100 tones insulation and need for it 128565 kg of isoresin and 42855 reed fibers. Considering i bring 102 kg of isoresin at 12 cycle, and dispose the oxygen, ice, co2 and solid methane, i need 1260 voyages whit one rocket or in my case 315 whit 4.. that means another 3780 cycle at my 1800 cycle colony.

Abyss bugs isn't a option. From what i see bugs eat max 1 kg at several cycle. I have only wild ones so if i tamed i didn't think i will see much a difference.

A big workforce up front can be whittled down by training them to astronaut and locking them into automated rockets. They cease to exist for all intents. Same trick applies to command capsules+engine then deconstruct engine. Rinse repeat and call them stasis pods. No need for gantries as tile walkway works fine when engine is gone. All my flatulent dupes are now in a stack of stasis pods which they probably prefer to magma where they belong!
