Sebastiangperez
It will be nice that Saved Games had some Backward compatibility with the new stuff added.

SharraShimada
And how should that even be possible? You build some stuff, not present in an older version, but want to load it in that version? Thats plain and simple impossible.

I know that the world is generated at the beginning, but there must be a possibility, because you reach some point in the game , like 1000 cycles and now you need to start all over again because a new update? whats the point?. I dont walk about world generation. For exmaple: They make a new generator. You build that. In an older Version the generator is not present at all. What should the game do? Just remove it? What about gameplay-mechanic changes? For example the new morale-system? Older versions do not know this. Its just noch possible.
Yunru
You want the new stuff to be backwards compatible with the save games. Which they are, for the most part.
Cairath
Actually... when the morale system was added it WAS also activated in old saves (you had a popup whether you want to turn it on) Everything that is added is also present in old seeds, except for world gen changes (last world generation change was when Cosmic hit, then we got some new plants that you can spawn into old saves). You don't need to start over every update, but when the world gen changes it's up to you. It's as compatible as it can get.

Everything new that can be build is available. Your save gets upgraded to the new version. Only thing you might be missing is stuff tied to world generation. They might add new critters, plants, resources and your save won`t have them. If you really want them you can always add them with debug to your 1000 cycle base as well. So i guess the compatibility is there. I haven`t seen a save get broken by a new update.
