The Artist Job no longer needed with 120 decor limit

Recommended Posts

So, I'm noticing that you can max your decor at 120 without ANY art. I've got an early colony with the decor maxed at 120 and I've done it with nothing but a couple of plants, some molding, and some unfinished sculpting blocks. This means that the new decor limit has made the Artist job completely useless and obsolete. Is it your intention get rid of that job? If not, this really needs to be changed.

I think they would counter the problem, one had to spam the whole area with art, to achieve a decent decor-level. With one master artists work, you may achieve the same goal. Or you use some more lower quality and get the same result.

Remember there are areas that have a lot of negative decor items ans well as areas with limited space. Can`t spam crown moulding everywhere and plants won`t grow above 30oC (actually the new ones could maybe). You can use better art items to save space and to neutralise negative decor from industrial machinery.

Sorry, but I don't see an issue with that. Decorating with art was fun and now both the art and the job of Artist are unnecessary. I don't see this as an improvement.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with... well.. just about all of this. The Jumping Joya will grow in temperatures from 0oC to 100oC. Crown molding can be put anywhere there is a ceiling (be it artificial or natural) and the short sculpture blocks fit anywhere a dupe can go. Negative decor from industrial machinery generally doesn't need to be neutralized because dupes aren't there much.

I don't need art at all either. I just use metal blocks made of gold (thanks to the gold volcano) and it gives 22.5 decor per block on a 3 tile area. As so, the art goes up to 120.

That requires a lot of cooling and quite a few cycles before you can actually have enough mass at the correct temperature. By that time you could long already have 120+ decor through other means.

Last upgrade you needed an actual art piece with 20+ decor for the great hall. Plants didn`t count. Did that change? I don`t remember.

Currently, decor from plant is counted like art. Easier to create a great hall or recreation room at the beginning by using a single flower pot.

I think one thing that would help is to have duplicants accumulate positive decor on a *per source* basis, meaning paintings, sculptures, plants, tiles, etc. would each have a different "bucket".  Then, the "average decor" is computed on a logarithmic scale *per bucket* and then summed together.  The idea is that this would penalize spamming one type of decor and reward spreading the decor among all the different buildings available.

Bear in mind that jumping joya is very limited and crown molding takes one tile for small decore. I actually have cery tight corridors and many places with vary bad decor due to machinery

My artist work full time doing just art to reach 100-120 decor. Sure for base it is easy to do with anything but for most places where your dupse actually are there is need for good quality art work not taking a lot of space. I still value artis job along with other professions.
