Seperating gas without a gas filter?

Recommended Posts

Can someone link me to a thread or explain how to setup the piping on a SPOM so that the hydrogen and Oxygen seperate in the pipes without having to build a 120W gas filter? (or using any type of gas as an example)

I've seen alot of people building spaghetti pipe monstrosities that split up the different gas packets using gas bridges and gas shut offs.

I saw someone post a thread called 'spaghetti monster' where they were feeding all kinds of gases into their spom to try and break it and it would seperate every kind of gas before it got to the hydrogen generator lol. No gas filters. Can't find that thread though.

If you put an element sensor directly before a gas shut-off, it'll only open the valve long enough for that single packet to make it through.

However, if you want to separate out H2 and O2 using no power at all, I use a slightly modified version of this setup:

Here you go. It was a little hard to find because it was so old, but it still works beautifully. The gas in the loop has to be h2 or it'll back up tho. One last thing, the thread is so old that the input/output icons are reversed. :D

Want to go to the extreme? Here's an unpowered (except to pump gas back out of storage) gas separation and storage facility that I use pretty much all the time with a few minor modifications, such as a 7th chamber for sour gas. The pic is in the second spoiler part of Alex_D's post.

I have to say I find it easier to find the extra power. But that is just me, most simple solutions possible.

I want to get as much power out of my SPOM as possible because I'm trying to create a fully automated Dense puft farm, that is also self powered.

End goal is that the only resource input is water going into the SPOM, and some duplicant time for grooming.
