Some gold rock on surface?

Recommended Posts

Before humid season player need at least 5 gold, because lightning rod needed. You have good way to get gold from bank, but 5 gold is 50 oinc if only way you get gold is that.

But main problem is, you usually need use cheese mechanic with torch/pickaxe in cave unless you got science machine already. This just small nit-pick, nothing major.

You can get gold by mining Stalagmites.

Buying from one of the shops for Oincs. You can get oincs by giving Pig Traders stuff.

Relic Fragments that can be found on the ground, give it to the professor.

Petals(flower) to Florist.

Rocks to Miner.

Berries or Honey to Usher.

Craft a science machine, craft a Razor, Cut the hedges to get Clippings that you can give to Storeowner(Pig with yellow hair), get materials so that you can craft a Ball Pein Hammer and use that on statues(to get relics and gold).

You can craft Cut Stone, Boards, Rope to get oincs from Worker Pigs.

You can also buy a few berry bushes, get manure and do other small things.

If you have to you can buy tools from the shops if it helps you get oincs/gold faster. That way you don't need a science machine to craft a razor, only 3 oincs. Ofc it is possible the razor is not in the shop.

I know all this, I don't know why people think I don't. I disagree that torch cheesing should be necessary mechanic to use, so I suggest this. I know you can get head candle, so that why I say it a bit of nit-pick.

also there are statues with gold in their eyes/teeth , chisel for 2 whopping gold!

Can't chisel without crafting science machine which need a gold. This why I think it good to have at least some gold boulder around, because seems people could not figure out where to get gold first for long time sometimes, and only option without chseesy torch mechanic or place campfire like idiot in caves is buy from bank. Again, not huge problem, just nit-pick.

You can also burn the ferns that naturally spawn in caves for light.

Fern doesn't burn long. Can drop any item and burn it, or drop campfire, it all seems cheesy and not something that you could figure out. I never would think to burn ferns and I played many hours of the DLC and other parts of game.

Why make this thread then?

Because a bit better game design, allow you to make science machine faster without guess of going to bank or weird cheesing strategy in cave to get gold. So, then you can make ballpein hammer for chiselling or candle hat that open up more nuanced way to get more gold other than bank.

Again, because Hamlet already multiple ways to get gold from beginning, that why I say it bit of a nit-pick. With this change, many new players can get more into game without running around not sure how to progress and not finding ways to get gold.

I'm bit in awe as to why people pay so much attention to something like this. You disagree with nit-pick suggestion, and then I have to explain myself, waste of everyone time.

@Charsis pls-- stop asking for things that aren't necessary... you can get enough gold in the game and if you need more then u trade it for oincs.. pls stop..

people pay attention to this cuz it's threads like this that sometimes make the game change for worse.. cuz u need to learn the game mechanics better instead of crying about everything and anything... like your "no cloth.. you are dead" thread..

Setting fire to plants to get some temporary light/heat is literally one of the most basic DS strats. It’s kind of astonishing that you’ve never encountered it before, tbh.

I'm laughing because people pay too much attention that can just be ignore. Chance are, this won't be changed, but if it is, what big problem is having some gold boulder at start going to make?

@ucw hahaha no.

@Rellimarual setting thing on fire, even trees that burn longer not take long, so that why even if I thought of it, it would seem stupid strat to use when can just use torch cheese without burning fern or anything, unless I play in winter for heat in desperate situation (which for someone like me very unlikely situation).

So I knew you can do it, but because I it not even a strat at all in Hamlet small caves, why would use it?

@FreyaMaluk I will stop make ``useless suggestion`` when you stop pay attention to them. Your opinion is yours, mine is mine, for something so trivial as apple or  oranges, there is no reason to keep talking about. Block me if you want, may be that make you more comfortable.

I don't even suggest anything every day, plenty other people suggestions around. The more you keep replying, the more this will stay relevant, so why not just ignore.

The reason why this is getting so much attention is because placing gold boulders on the surface (outside of a rare setpiece) is not a nitpick suggestion. This would noticeably flatten Hamlet's learning curve.

With a rock boulder at the start, there would be no urgent necessity within your first few days of the game to either figure out how to get some oincs (for buying the gold) or to be bold and walk into that dark spooky cave (for mining/picking up the gold). This, of course, heavily differs from what we've all been used to, but... isn't that a good thing?

First of all I never said "useless suggestion".... If you are gonna quote me.. Then quote my words...

Seconddly, you have already enough people telling you that this suggestion is not good cuz it would make Hamlet way easier and it would completely change the way you explore the world at the beginning, which is what makes the Hamlet experience so unique...

So yeap... It's not only me.. It just happens that I care about Hamlet and I don't want people complaining about unnecessary changes, specially if those people aren't prepared to substantiate their claims with real arguments.

Okay, so what you want me to do, say I'm sorry and take back this suggestion? Well I won't, because I don't agree with you. Because multiple people don't agree with me not mean I just gonna shut up and stop having different opinion.

To be fair, I had enough of useless reply from you, just ignore this! If you can't, I will just ignore you and then we have no problem.
