I wanna say that: As you wish, today I’ll introduce a totally big machine for mining neutronium. And a big thanks to @Sasza22’s post giving me this idea My ugly artwork included. This big machine will use plasma to pentrate the neutronium, using hydrogen and lots of power. Please use seperate power system to power this thing as possible, because it requires you 1500W per second! Any more ideas about this machine? I’ve tried my best to draw it in duplicant’s building style... And actually I finished this drawing in 30 minutes. babba Posted October 30, 2018 Share Posted October 30, 2018 The Neutronium Penetrator machine works best in combo with the: NeutroniumDuplicator The duplicator uses an amazing amount of 4000KW energy, needs some other piped in liquid stuff via inputs and doubles up the plasma mined Neutronium. So 1:2 input/output. The Neutronium can then be used by the player as construction material. Sasza22 Posted October 30, 2018 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Well i`m pretty sure there is mentioned somewhere in the lore that neutronium is a manmade material (abyssalite as well) so maybe we could get to craft it at one point. As for the magma biome my idea was for it to not have the neutronium walls but i guess a way to drill through them is also one way to get there. Maybe later you could build stuff out of neutronium. Buildings out of it would be indestructible never overheat and not transfer any heat. And Even make special mining rockets? If you could dig through it, you could hit the edges of the map. Unless, of course, they create a new undiggable material, but that defeats the purpose. Then people would want to be able to dig through that as well. I believe they said that dupes and critters can loop around on the surface already, but I don't know if that is accurate. This would mean we don't need map edges. I tested it. Dupes can loop around the edges. I think ideally we wouldn`t need neutronium at all. Oil reservoirs don`t have neutronium beneath so theyr geysers shouldn`t need it as well. Edges aren`t needed anymore, abyssalite is a good enough insulator for the oil biome. We could get rid of neutronium allthogether. Or make it minable. babba Posted October 31, 2018 Share Posted October 31, 2018 Mineable Neutronium would be good, with huge resource/power/liquid/gas requirements. Its a safe resort to run giant maps fast or for folks to run the game decent on low to average cpu/ram/boardbus. I didnt like the Klei decision to reduce the map size in the past, now...maybe they didnt go far enough and they should have changed the default map size to 15%, instead of 25%. Once you give a player something, they will be ruthless if you take it away I would have stopped playing ONI if a manual map size increase would not be possible. Miouuuuuuu ! If we can loop around the left and right sides, then we live in a cylinder. That is weird to me. Of course, any game that wraps around left right and up down are toruses (or is it tori, idk), and that is even stranger. Spheres are hard. Computers like their squares. When i look at your neutronium base, bigger map makes no sense too, when you have to block parts out, to remove them from calculation. That "Neutonium painting", gives every base an ugly touch/look, for me. Looking like an error to me.. Could be a temp solution to make game playable, but should never be integrated (only debug) . babba Posted November 1, 2018 Share Posted November 1, 2018 Bigger maps allow for long logistic transport ways and great otherwise joy + the map will play run much faster in a few years with new cpu`s...without starting a map again and again fresh. Ive started a lot of maps from scratch without debug mode, running out of tile space. So if and when I play ONI, this map will be fine for the years 2018-2023 Learning by doing + Factorio playstyle preference.
