Peculiar trees?

I've seen "Peculiar" tea trees and rain forest trees, but when chopped down, they give the standard drops - logs and sometimes eggs for the rainforest trees, nothing out of the ordinary. Is there a reason they're named differently though (and I think a tiny bit darker in shade)?

Maybe should try using the magnifying glass?

This is correct. If I'm not mistaken peculiar objects are always investigatible with the magnifying glass. Though it might've been coincidence on my part.
