Dupes don't use item when I drop them in front of item.

Dupes won't use massage tables until they reach the stress threshold setting in the massage table. The massage table also has a sub-priority that needs to be the 5 average or higher or they'll take forever to go use it.

Showers will only ever be used during the "bathtime" break period. This won't help them with slimelung anyways, as it only removes germs from their clothing/hands, and has no effect other than morale.

The better cure for slimelung and stress is preventative measures. Positioning deodorizers every 5 tiles vertically will help a LOT with keeping slimelung infections down. Keeping good decor in the base and mopping up any puddles will go a long way to reducing stress.

I didn't think about that

I'm so confused how the first few cycles has dupes being anti-artist when you raise a point. I suppose I should get a artist or two into my base?

The first few cycles the game gives you amazing stress buffs, to allow fast expansion without killing them. All you need is a dupe with +2 to creativity and assign them to the art student job. Once they have +4 to creativity, they can create masterpiece artwork.

The entire stress system was reworked to stem from the morale system, which is directly affected by what food they eat, the average decor value where dupes are present, and the room bonuses. By placing a few paintings in the bedrooms, bathrooms, mess hall, and major hallways, you can easily get the decor morale bonus. Arranging your rooms to get those room bonuses is another easy way to get better morale. Eventually, you'll want to set up a recreational room, which depending on what structures you put in there can give you incredible boosts to morale.

Rule of thumb: if you want happy dupes, give them nice stuff. Good food, a nice bed, a nice place to ****. Higher stress jobs need higher morale to prevent stress.

People unederstimate the bluff briar. The plant can give you a ton of decor early on without the need for artists. It also doubles up as early warning that it`s getting too hot. You can even swap it to wheezeworts later if needed.

You're really right about underestimating. Took me months before I understand the morale system so just a week or two ago I went for a question to uncover all the briars to put in pots.:wilson_ecstatic:

artist > bluff briar though.  you need a masterpiece painting or sculpture to make a great room which IMO should be your second or third goal (after basic bathroom and barracks)  with those three you won't have much morale issues until you get further up the job tree.  When the first switched to morale about a month ago I had a few games melt-down before I figured out the above, now its been more of the usual - oh **** I forgot to 'micro the algae' type of bs. lol.

True. But briar is lower tech and doesn`t require you to assign an artist.

Actually i wonder if they redo the artistic perks and allow only tier 2 arists to make masterpieces. Currently we are half in the old system based on the skill level an half in the new one based on occupation. We will get other tiers for statues and ice sculptures eventually too.

That's it?  Aside from working a little quicker, there isn't much of a point to taking in a dupe with higher creativity then?

Precisely. Well stated (just delete the question mark and add an exclamation point).

Nope.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's a 10% difference in painting speed per level, but after 4 creativity it's pointless. How often do you have dupes making art that training the higher tier job would be worthwhile?
