Our prayers have been answered, praise be!

I'm glad that it comes with a high cost, as this will change the entire meta for coolant systems required for extremely hot things. Steel +200C will be wonderful for mid-game heat management, and that +900C thermite will be heavenly for any build.

Gone will be the days of door pumps for steam turbines, no more relying on dedicated coolant loops to even use a hydrogen vent, and we'll finally be able to build aquatuners and tepidizers to make efficient dirt production systems.

But if I can make the thing work just fine without a late game material, then why bother rebuilding it with the new stuff.... Door pumps are still useful. Pressure tricking (a natural consequences of 1 element per tile mechanics) is still available.

Also, if the steam turbine is designed to be used AFTER hitting the last few planets, then shouldn't the turbine occur AFTER rocket research in the tech tree?  I'm excited to see how things change over the next few months.

Ore is now merged into the world if it's buried under the same element, i.e. regolith ore getting buried in a regolith tile is absorbed into the tile

For me this is gold news...this and using the horizontal door regolith delete bug is fantastic. Or you can use the autodiger whit a timer...The regolith drop, merge whit the falling regolith then dig and you will have half....next storm same process...

Once you have already built a crude to petro boiler without to get you to the farther planets....

I haven't even touched rocketry yet, are the materials needed for niobium or thermite within range of the steam rocket? What exactly is in range of what types of boosters?

So from now is it legal?

Of course.  Always has been, till they remove the ability from the code. :)

  • Does it use pressure tricking (1 element per tile mechanics)?  Yep.
  • Does it block ports? Yep.
  • Is it legal.......  I'd say Yep.
