Sending a rocket with some Liquid/Gas/Solid to the Ice-planets to freeze it/cool it down

Recommended Posts

Some of our cooling methods to destroy heat has been adressed, some of which were exploits. The infamous heat-drip, now the Water-sieve has been partly adressed, still possible, just not as abusable. While I think thats good, we're still losing some ways to cool which the game doesn't have a lot of. Now with the new things that need it.

With the recently changed Sourgas > Naturalgas&Sulfur, we need some real big cooling. We've recieved renewable Wheezeworts and also Ice we can bring from the Ice planet. Still not enough What should be added, which also adds a renewable way to destroy lots of heat and also get really cold stuff, is sending a rocket to the Ice Planet with some liquid/material/gas, they stay there for 1-3 cycles by assigning them to do so (You have to supply them with Oxylite and Provision) as the stuff gets cooled down. You can set how cold the stuff should get before flying back

Now, this adds another continious use for Rockets, and also some viable ways to get some real big cold. Since everything in the Ice planet is frozen, we can cool things down to say, -160*C, but of course, the more you want to cool it, the more you'll have to wait. Maybe there's some resource you got to spend to do it so it isn't 100% "Free" other than the slight there.

This seems a whole lot of work just to cool stuff down. "Our technology is so advanced we send our hot stuff to space to cool down on different planets, rather than cool it home". Apart of it making very little logical sense it might work.

That said i`d rather have some minerals with high heat capacity you can bring in really cold and use them for cooling your base. Like an oxylite type mineral that slowly disappears but absorbs insane amounts of heat to do so. Could change into some kind of gas (chlorine or CO2 might be best).

This is a game.

Our technology can cool things down, but heat other things in return too, they cant cool large amount of matter without heating another chunk of matter. Heat sink right now just exploit and, will be fix sooner or later.

This is actually a good idea since the reward for launching rocket are laughable anyway.

Or we can simply implement radiation in the game and have the surface at -160 Celsius :)  Easy peezy cooling

Seems a bit too simple. The surface should cool down a little bit because of the regolith but the surface simply being a passive cooler is a bit too simple.

I feel like the surface should radiate heat super fast but base it on the same logic the meteor scanner works. If the sight is blocked the radiation is reduced. The sunlight should then provide an opposite effect heating the surface up. This would make a nice setup for cooling designs. Bunker doors opening only at night to radiate heat etc.
