Cpu and Fps drops

Oxygen not included is using only one core of the processor. Sadly...

But the game should run a while before lagging only a bit on your computer.

The mono core behavior can cause other issues though :

Do you have other applications opened ? On my computer, if I have 5 or so tabs on Chrome, the game lags as hell. The moment I close Chrome, the game runs at full speed even at cycle 800.

You may try this and if it doesn't work, come back and tell us more about applications opened and such.

Development builds have half or worse the frame rate of the regular releases so it's no surprise. It's because development builds have metrics logging processes built-in, basically spyware, that sends data to Klei as you play. You can't review the data sent, nor can you disable it on preview builds so unless you trust Klei 100% and don't mind playing at low FPS and random bugs then you shouldn't play them.

I respect your view on the subject. But isn't it a bit harsh to consider sending metrics to improve a game as spyware ? I know we can't know what are the data that are sent. But we all have firewalls and windows defender (unless you're on Mac or Linux but there must be some kind of protection too). It should be enough to prevent Klei from taking any data that would be considered against the freedom of private life.

I may be mistaking. And can't put proofs and don't want to search for them as I'm not trying to defend Klei while saying this. And I respect the way you feel about data collecting.

dont know, whats "wrong" with my rig, but ONI uses all 4 of my quadcore-CPU with somewhat 50+ threads. The engine is capable of multitheading, and devs would have to cut it to one core manually.

Because the developers inform the players wishing to try out the preview branch about the debugging tools "that help us track down crashes", it's not spyware. It's not forced upon you. You have the option to just wait for the live branch update where these tools are not present. So Saturnus is being quite unfair. Sure, it can make testing out neigh impossible when loading up your 200+ cycle base, which is unfortunate, but you can't expect to have all the goodies earlier and getting an exception for the bad stuff.

@samir Yeah it's the preview branch mate. Either you have to start a new colony or remove the preview branch and load up a backed up save game (hopefully you made one). If you haven't made a back up of your save game, you'll have to stick it out until they release the live branch at that point they'll remove the debugging tools and your game will run smooth again.
