0xFADE
The idea here is simple for rooms with flying critters. Put open doors on the floor. This separates eggs that land in the doors from the creature count. This keeps them from going in to expecting as quickly. landromat
Eggs no longer count towards a pen's critter count. What this change means, if eggs still count as critters? 0xFADE
Yeah I thought that was what it would have meant too. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92184-the-floor-is-door/#findComment-1051804 Share on other sites
Soulwind
As far as I can tell, eggs no longer count for overcrowding and auto wrangling. They do still count for the expecting status. I'm now seeing a full ranch with eggs where the critters are all expecting but not glum from overcrowding. They made it so on the critter count for the Drop off point doesn't include eggs...but then the critters still get the overcrowded/expecting debuff because of the egg count. So it essentially makes the auto-wrangle useless as you still have to manually manage the eggs. Sure there may be ways of automating with conveyors, but that is an unnecessary hurdle imo. They just need to make it consistent. Either make it so the critter count on the drop off includes eggs OR make it so overcrowded/expecting debuffs dont include eggs. avc15
Quite annoying to manage with conveyors as well since they'll break at their destination anyhow. Every container that can take eggs afaik makes viability go down, so only the ones you throw in an incubator or drop on the ground will hatch. If expecting didn't include eggs it wouldn't exist at all. I suspect it exists as a control measure to prevent huge critter population explosions if you let eggs build up in a stable. It's really not hard to have dupes move eggs out of stables yourself and keep population numbers up with auto wrangling and a breeding stable or just incubators in the stable. It takes a long time for eggs to go off in storage so you shouldn't have any problem incubating when you need new critters. I've fully automated the whole process with conveyors but I suspect you're looking for something a lot simpler.
