Water for cooking from a tap

Recommended Posts

Sinks are 2*2 size if memory erves, this is more than enough for getting the place for two dupes to do things on it. And anyhow, dupes would likely rush to another sink if the one closest to them was occupied as they do with basins, outhouses and toilets. in my experiece

I... understood none of that.

you could always build a small well like 2 tiles deep with a tap in your kitchen. the liquid out tap cuts off if the fluid level is higher than it so it only uses power when dupes are taking water from it. they take no time to fill and can be cooled easily(not needed tho) you can also build them near green houses that you dont want to run hydroponic in so you can keep an area cool.

Apologies,I was in a rush and did not had time to properly read again and correct. What I meant was, in response to your previous comment:

Then you'd have dupes not washing their hands because another dupe's drawing water.

Sinks, if memory serves are two tiles long, which means there is enough space to have two spots for two different duplicants to do two different things at a single sink. (such as one duplicant washing their hands while another would fill a bottle.

And if a sink was completely occupied, then the leftover duplicant would likely go the nearest unoccupied sink as, in my experience, they do with basins, toilets and the like.

Anyhow otherwise a dedicated tap building work as well, I suppose. This version just has the benefit of not having to create art and code for a new building.

Please, please make a wall mounted water tap. The Pitcher Pump is great to start but so tedious to incorporate into your cooking area that it doesn't make sense.

It is also a hassle to move you mini-reservoir if you do decide that you want your kitchen elsewhere. So tap is a nice option.

But personally I would prefer some kind of auto-filling or dupe operated station, that keeps couple bottles at hand.

Ability to dump your bottle back into pipe system will also be nice to have.

if you need a tap why not build a water resevoir direcly under your kitchen through piping? and use the pitcher pump to draw water from there? the water in the resevoir will also keep the kitchen temperature more stable. Though eh water in the kitchen? still using the microbe musher at the point you have piping then? well this is a none issue since i don't use that thing. good luck with future builds

Because it's rationally dumb and looks as much.

It's a work around that really shouldn't be needed.

#ISupportTapsAndDrains :p

If we don't have taps, we should have the option to pipe the musher, but... yeah.  I prefer the idea of having a tap in general, as an alternative to the hand pump, just hook it up to your plumbing system and let dupes get water from that faster than going down to my resevoir to manually pump it would be nice, in my opinion.

And what if there was a building, 2 tiles high, 1 tile wide, looking like a water dispenser (the ones with the big bottle above them), connected to the pipe system.

Dupes may take water from the dispenser but not more than the tank itself can hold. Kinda like the power transformer but for liquids.

This way you could have access to bottled water over all your base with a small drawback but also create a new way to transport and store liquids.
