Why do critters give decor?

Recommended Posts

I think it's a nice touch. It makes for an easy way to get a bit of decor early game with hatches, and having a pet long-haired slickster, certain shinebug breeds, and dense pufts in the home base makes for a bit of flavor for players with large bases. I do wish the long-haired slicksters could be wrangled, and had longer lifespans, to allow us to have them as pets longer.

The massive decor bonus of certain shinebugs can offset the massive decor penalty of heavy-watt wires.

Maybe they smell good.

Longhair Slicksters smell like lilac and lavender; who wouldn't want them everywhere they go!

Don't they live for 100 cycles?

The idea of having critters whose only purpose is decor is pants on head.

I now want dupes to be able to wear pants on their heads. Also, Longhair Slicksters also consume oxygen...and that's helpful in the way I sometimes setup my base. :wilson_dorky:

And sometimes critters just...ooze cool, like the molten slickster for example:

I just had an idea.

I think sooner or later devs will implement stress and stress relief to be more important i.e. decor will become more important. Maybe they will even implement stress for animals. So you need to mix some decor creatures in so the little critters won't feel neglected:D
