MythN7
haven't looked over here in quite awhile, put 2 terrariums to handle the co2 from the coal gen, my only power source. and several deodorizers to handle the PO from the compost and sieve. just opened the doors, so a vacuum of o2 just swept out but its still showing 7kgs of pressure. clickrush
I don't mind the sinks. Food poisoning even in small numbers can spread to food and then spread rapidly. I once had to compost most of my food because I didn't pay attention to small amounts of FP. Never again. I once had to compost most of my food because I didn't pay attention to small amounts of FP. Never again. and if even 1 slime lung germ gets there it seems to get overpowered from the yellow type, but not sure fully, seems to turn into many yellow from it. I had only a handful of slime lung in my morb o2 pit i was trying on other play. the o2 was able to kill them off fast enough that they were gone by the time they floated up to the gas pump i was using for AC. I thought i would try to put my bottled PW down there to help with extra PO for the system. ALL the green dots were gone, and dissipated instantly upon morbs doing there thing. But i had in the 700 million + food poison germs per tile in the o2 within no time. Got rid of the PW bottles, and a few dozen cycles later the outbreak was gone and back to just a manageable amount of slime lung from the morbs. Also, those sinks are not awkward at all to have, I keep my water on a closed loop, and have a hydro reed fiber with a branch to take the extra fluid generation to prevent the line from backing up. When I primed this closed system, all it had was 10 pipe segments of fluid, its now backed up to full clean water and up to the release bridge. That has got me 24 reed fibers just from not trying to make them, only my overflow PW heh. Also keep a normal farm plot with a reed in it to handle any bottles of PW incase they show up for some reason. for Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89429-heh-my-compost-room-has-the-most-fresh-o2-in-my-whole-base-lol/#findComment-1022875 Share on other sites
wachunga
You can turn off disinfecting entirely, it's the first thing I do in every single game. Slimelung on surfaces does nothing nor does food poisoning in the air. One sink per toilet means dupes never leave with food poisoning. Don't handle the polluted dirt, have a hatch eat it or build a deodorizer nearby and allow it to sublimate. Composts and disinfecting are a waste of dupe time. Whispert
I have had 7 Cycles of food go to waste because a dupe was walking around with "poo hands" and I was busy over seeing another project so it went unchecked. I don't want to lose half my workforce to food poisoning and trying to recover lost food stores. So keeping a sink in a few places to keep the germs in check when I'm not staring at them seems like a good idea to me. I bet it would drive you crazy to hear I also put a sink at the entrance to my kitchen to keep the dirty little fingers off all my cooked food. Sinks, toilets, and showers run on a closed loop (don't use extra water) so they are no big deal to set it and forget it. @MythN7 Your right it barely takes any water to prime, and very little time to build. I go a step further and use polluted fp water to prime the system that way I don't have to use any of my clean water for it. While the germs in this game can be negligible there are some of us that prefer to play in a manner that keeps the germs under control (it just feels like the thing to do). That's not OCD just good workforce management. How do you adjust overall disinfecting and not just on a per-tile basis? It's been driving me mad having to click on every base tile next to a swamp block and turn off disinfect or my dupes spend half their life doing that. BlueLance
Top right, click on germ overlay, next to the tick box is the germ amount. I also turn mine off, I have 1 sink for 16 dupes. Even if a dupe walks past the germs die so quickly it doesn't matter. Dont build structures adjacent to slime, dig one out so you have a gap between the wall and the bugs. Jigsawn
Thanks Bluelance. Yes DyingCrow I try to do that usually, but stuff like poor planning, building out in the middle of nowhere or building close to lakes lined with slime means I sometimes have the dreaded tile next to slime problem Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89429-heh-my-compost-room-has-the-most-fresh-o2-in-my-whole-base-lol/#findComment-1023124 Share on other sites
