I am on my second base and at cycle 37 I have just finished the tech tree, but am way behind in setting somethings up. Just got my electrolizers set up in '35. World Seed 7 turned out to be a really good fit for my early game playstyle. The caverns were perfectly positioned to be repurposed as farms (low, so I can to fill them with CO2 to prevent rotting), latrines (immediately accessible), and barracks (just above the latrines). Water was highly accessible without being in the way of construction, and the seed is swimming in mealwood seeds (I think I was into double digits by the time I started the farm). Speaking from experience: if we'd started on World Seed 8, it would have been a very different story. The low caverns on that seed are too hot for farms, mealwood is comparitively scarse, lakes are in in extremely inconvenient positions, and there's a freaking steam geyser penetrating the start biome. Kabrute Posted January 24, 2018 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Ok, picking up the pile from here As my first order of business as new overseer i've added a second pump to the air machine so we can breathe a little easier. We've rebuilt the garden using the newer, more compact planters. more plants in the same space, wins all around, am I right? There was a slight snafu with the plumbing but we think we've got it hammered out now. Note to self, (Thats self in the picture) can't breath inside blocks(tried anyway) And being a miner i'm just gonna cap this off and dig past it. Wasn't a rock but a hard boiled lice which means the base is getting a tad hot. Hole is cut on the bottom of the base because some of you are complaining of not getting any sleep when it takes all night to reach their beds. Temporary shelter built for the diggers/builders along with an electrolyzer because of complaints of not getting any oxygen down there. Third ice biome found, proceeding to dig into in hope of worts. Temp shelter and the three weezlewort plants hoping to cool down the base with. Rearranged Vent system to split the gas evenly between the vents. Heat nullifier found in the third ice biome but unfortunately, we have to pump out all the polluted water, crude oil and fresh water in order to use it. Would require a massive revamp of the colony to get it working in OC and honestly better to just restart for the upgrade.
