Dealing with Monkeys

Wow thx for volunteering!

I can confirm fences are a monkey's greatest weakness, not even the nightmare cycle can assist this creature in escaping its eternal prison.

You can also fit the fences a bit tighter, just make sure there's still a couple blocks of space in between the fence and the pod, or else they can and will spawn outside of the cage.

Now all you need is to throw a rabbit hutch in there and collect all the loot when the nightmare cycle is in it's calm phase.

I like the way you think :wilson_wink:

I actually had this idea for a while now for a nightmare fuel farm, but now that I know fences work it'll just make things a bit easier. No idea why trying to use fences never crossed my mind. My original plan was to just throw a rabbit hutch or two around each pod.

Personally, I knock down monkey huts in all but a single area that has a narrow exit. I kite depth worms over to the places where the homeless monkeys are so the worms can kill them in their unshadow form and I can scoop up the loot. Then I line the exit to the area where the remaining huts are with tooth traps to make a "corridor of death." When the nightmare cycle is on and shadow monsters make the ruins inhospitable, I run into the remaining monkey area to get the shadow monks to chase me out over the traps. Apparently regular monkeys will steal the traps, so the corridor can't be too close to any huts, but I have never really had that be an issue. In fact, I've found it a good way to get rid of regular monkeys that are following me. This produces mad amounts of nightmare fuel, manure, beard hair and enough morsels and bananas to live off of over the summer.

Or lock rock lobsters in it. You don't have to worry about building anything that way.

That would take forever to walk them from their home all the way over to the ruins. And if/when they die, you'll have to do that all over again. I'll stick with the rabbit hutches.

They teleport to you right off screen when you move too far away, the same as any other follower.
