The Letter W
As the title says. Not 100% sure if it's a bug or just something that was overlooked, or maybe put in the game to make you go "hmm" but a couple times I've gotten a Duplicant who has a + in a particular skill but then has a trait that makes it so they can't do that skill. Case in point; (I think the other one I got was one that aided Research but couldn't Research so ???) I feel like if they've got a negative trait that completely prohibits an ability there should be some sort of check that ensures they don't get a bonus in it either. But maybe he's got a tragic backstory about why he's so good at cooking yet refuses to touch a single cooking instrument. We may never know. If this has already been addressed, I apologize! Czeraphine
Happens to me all the time. +7 to learning? Yokel. +6 to cooking? Gastrophobe. +12 mining? Refuses to dig.
Oatmeal
This same thing happened in Rimworld and it made me crack up every time. Mostly due to what Letter W said about the tragic backstory. Though, maybe there shouldn't be a check that gets rid of it at all. Maybe instead, it actually GIVES that backstory as to why they don't do it and add something extra for that particular character. Granted. I would prefer the check as this would be only an aesthetic to make fun of the fact that the algorithm actually does this. But if they kept it, and added another set of traits as a kind of algorithm-balance-apology, then fun.

Lol, if they have something like this and they have Destructive as a stress response, maybe they should only destroy buildings to do with that contradiction. Building on that, maybe they could somehow give a boost to other Duplicants learning that ability? So maybe if you have one that's good at cooking but won't cook, if another Dupe is cooking within a certain radius, the other Dupe gets a boost on how fast they build the cooking skill. Cyberboy2000
Learning determines how quickly skills level up, so even for a Yokel that benefit is not completely useless. Not sure if any other skill has a use like that.
Wayland
In Rimworld at least a lot of traits are mutually exclusive.
