I found one on my first cycle and since I had a bunch of minerals around my base I killed it right away. Was building base and replaced the tiles the Hatch was burried on with a basetile. He dropped down where one of my dupes was doing research and ate the poor guy without warning :/ One way to loose a dupe really. A hatch appeared (they appear at night) and ate 2 of my dupes. If they're awake u can fight him, but he seems to just eat them if he catches them asleep. He's a nice fella.
