The purchase method was a little bit stupid

So i'm going in a little bit of rant here, my condition right now is a little bit freaky

Oh how am I kidding, I am FURIOUS

So it just start with me whom has recently purchased a copy of DST for my lil bro and my buddy jane doe, I thought i was gonna get two copies like before, but Instead I only gained one copy in my inventory since I already owned DST. For a moment I believed that I've just got ripped off by steam store, but then I figured that I was gonna get the extra copy once someone has redeemed my gift, so I sent one of the copy to jane doe and had her redeem my gift, but when she did turn out she's the one who got the extra copy, and guess what !!! She can't send the gift back to my brother because her steam steam ID is non-premium, which mean she need to wait out for 3 month before she is allowed to do any premium action like adding my brother or me as a steam friend to gift back.

This is literally the worst time for me, since Klei themselves in on their winter vacation

Long story short, My suggestion is to change the purchase method to just simply give two copies instead of a Russian nesting doll

Well yeah, the extra copy is supposed to be for a friend... :T the things you listed above really aren't klei of steams fault if you take a closer look... what you could have done was bought the game using your brother's account... and then gave the extra copy to your friend :T

Yeah, I guess it was kinda my mistake, but shouldn't klei just make it a two copy purchase just to make it much more simple

Yep. Put 5€ in the account is enough, your friend won't even need to spend the money, he can just keep it in the account to buy you something you want in the future (if the money is yours, i mean).

Thats the problem man, I wish Klei would just made it simpler, I thought buying my friend a copy would be generous enough, And I'm not even sure that she have access to credit card and stuff, And my brother's account is also a non-premium so they can't add each-other on steam.

She tried sending me back the extra copy but steam wouldn't allow that, and even if she did get a premium, she still have to wait for up to 3 month before she can get the verification.

That's Steam problem mate . Back in the time Steam was free, but then they made a lot of games free to play and make you put money in the account to use some things... Feels bad. If you only want to play DST it's not cool, but if you think that after dropping 5€ in the account you have access to so many free games and other super cheap ones, that looks a bit better.

You don't need a credit card tho, a friend of mine buys some kind of 5-10€ ticket at our local gas station that he can use online when he want to put money in his steam account. I'm not sure what's the system called, but I don't live in a very big place so these are probably common.

I know it doesn't sound like the perfect or the most confortable way to do it, but I wanted to help with the options I do know.

Waiting for three months even after having the money in sounds really bad, I thought it wouldn't be like that.

We're pretty limited in terms of what we can do - only what Steam allows. Really sorry this didn't go well for you. I'll bring it to @JoeW's attention in case there's a change we can do, but probably it's already set up with the least annoying available option.

Maybe you can contact Steam support and see if there's a way for you to get that extra copy into the right person's inventory faster?

Yes! thank you for giving a rather swift response, I've made a refund request awhile ago, and as @Asparagus said, I'll just buy the game trough my friend's account that way she'll have DST and a premium account

I'll just wait for another year when any changes to happen.

Unfortunately, this entirely a steam thing. The way steam works is that with every purchase (that is not a gift), goes directly to your game inventory. If it's not a gift, it doesn't get treated like a gift. But the second copy, the one that goes to your inventory, IS a gift so it goes to your inventory. 

Steam gets a lot of complaints about this so they added the warning on purchase and you can't purchase again if you already own it. 

Sooooo if you purchased it as a gift, you get 1 item in your inventory. THAT item is two copies of DST - One that will go in the recipients library and one that will go in their inventory as a tradable item. Again, this is how it is supposed to be because that's what the purchase is. 1 item in the library and 1 in the inventory. 

It's super unfortunate that she can't trade that item. But that is also completely a steam thing and we can't change that. If it were me, I would just find a super cheap game on sale or buy steam wallet funds - maybe even a gift to use for trade?

Unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do to change this outside of not offering the free copy for a friend.

I wouldn't wait on changes. This has been how it has been for years and I don't think this is something they want to change. If anything they are getting more strict about trade restrictions.
