Martin45900 Posted December 23, 2016 Share Posted December 23, 2016 Here's the thing. I was living a happy life at my base, until a Bearger came and rampaged the hell out of it. Careless me, I knew I wasn't far enough from my base at the moment I stopped hearing those growlings. Anyway, when I killed it, I thought to myself "Screw it". I prepared as much structures as I could, packed up all the important (at least for me) stuff and went to the Teleportato. An escape pod to a new world. Gonna miss those 225 days... So, now in this brand new world I am at day 4 and have explored great part of it. Walking cane ftw As you can see, I didn't get very lucky with the beefalos. I still don't know where is the desert biome, but I think I have scouted enough to set up my base, but the thing is I don't know where. So, what do you people think? Where should I build my base? Atsumame Posted December 23, 2016 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I would suggest exploring the swamps in case it has the reed trap setpiece in it. Anyways if you are lazy and want easy access to everything, make you base at pig king. You will have pig king nearby (duh) for easy gold, a nearby access to the caves, swamps are near too as seen on your map. If you are lucky the desert is nearby too. If you don't want to worry about food nor resources replanting then settle your base in the desert; cactus will do well with webber low sanity and you can get a lot of bonus meat from buzzards. As a side note: make sure to properly know where your wormholes lead to since they can make a big difference on where to build a base. The only thing that keeps bothering me is that the beefalos are way too far no matter where I set up my base. It makes a huge difference and adds an option to base next to that wormhole if it takes me to a place I want to take deerclops/giant/hounds. From the map without knowing the wormholes, I would base in the deciduous forest between pig king and the swamp. Right in the middle. I want the option to take deerclops into the swamps, take hounds to the pig village. I'd make a tooth trap field between small rock biome and graveyards. Mencken Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Base is critical and what you should spend the most time deciding on or you'll regret it later. I'm near rabbits, beefalos and I build a 10-20 structure pig village that is far enough not to worry about during full moons. I also park my base and my safe room room next to the ocean, free food supply in the winter. Next to the pig village is about a 100 trees, every 10 days or so I feed them all and cut them all down, amazing how fast they can take down a live tree. Good luck in your new world!
